Consider Carefully What You Hear

What and how we hear is very important to our faith.

“Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more.” Mark 4:24 The Message Bible

So faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of Christ. Romans 10:17 (NASB)

The Greek word for ‘word’ is rhema; it represents an active living specific (spoken) word. Contrast this with the word used mostly for the written word of the Bible – logos, a general word, statement or message (a very inclusive word). Jesus takes the general living word and will of God, and makes it specific and alive to us. This living specific word is the knowledge of God’s will that creates faith in our heart.

Dr. Hagin used to say, “Faith begins where the will of God is known.” Faith is based on a ‘knowing’ of something. You can’t have faith without knowing His will, and you cannot know His specific will without hearing it fresh from his mouth (by way of the Holy Spirit – John 16:13-15). Jesus says in John, that the Holy Spirit takes his words and, “will disclose them to us.” As emphasis, Jesus makes this statement three times in a row.

Faith is the victory, and we are just one “hearing” away from victory.

If you are walking according to God’s Word, you are just one “hearing” away from victory.
