Everyone needs love. Everyone needs encouragement. I need it. You need it. Everyone needs a little push once in a while to be able to do the things of God against the things of the Devil. Everything in this fallen world may be against us, but we can be for each other.
Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:25
Why do we need to encourage each other more as the end approaches? Because the end is going to be crazy. It is already crazy, and it will get worse. The pressure is mounting. The oppression is increasing. Evil is less and less restrained. It is not just you who are feeling it. We are all feeling it. We need God, and we need each other more and more each day.
Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:18
Therefore encourage and build one another up, just as you are already doing. I Thessalonians 5:11
Sometimes we need to know that someone is standing with us. Encouragement communicates that. It says, “It’s okay, I’m here with you. I noticed you need help. I care, and I believe you will be alright.” So simple, but it can make all the difference in the world to someone hanging on the edge of whatever ledge they are hanging on. Hanging is bad enough but hanging all alone is really crummy. Go to them. Lend the helping hand that God would give if He was here. Actually, He is, in us.
Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2
Yes, each of us must carry their own load but we can help and we can make the job a little easier. I see a lot of hurt and discouragement in the people who come to this site. The world has been hard to them and they need to know that someone cares and that God cares. We show them that we care by showing them how to contact God. Some are in a very dark place and can’t climb out of the hole on their own. We can’t just walk by. We must help them out of it. We aren’t expected to fix them. That’s God’s job. Ours is to smile, stick our hand out, and show love. He can work with that.
A joyful heart is good medicine, but depression drains one’s strength. Proverbs 17:22
When someone has lost their way they become discouraged. They find it hard to get up and get going again. They cannot see the hope that is right in front of them. Encouragement describes the good that they cannot see. Sometimes, it is easier to point out someone else’s hopes than it is to see your own. It is the opposite situation of the proverbial speck in the eye. In that instance, you can see another’s problems easier than your own. In this, you can see their possibilities easier than your own. Describe what they cannot see. It is precisely what they need.
A person’s anxiety weighs down his heart, but an appropriate word is encouraging. Proverbs 12:25 International Standard Version
Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up. Proverbs 12:25 New Living Translation
Encouragement describes the good that they cannot see.And for you out there who desperately need encouragement yourself, I tell you that you will make it. It is not over. All is not lost. It will be better. I am with you. God is with you. God will help you. Now, go out and tell somebody else that they will make it too. It will bless them and it will bless you. Hope will grow in both of your hearts. When you encourage someone else you get encouraged. It is the win-win of God.
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Luke 6:38
