Faith Comes Down To Awareness

What are you most aware of – the circumstances of the situation or who God is and what He has said? The question is not about guilt. It is about locating you so you can get to a place of believing the promises and receiving the answer. Bible faith is having the heart-awareness of the answer. It will nullify the sense-awareness of the problem. Answers in life do not come from the intellect or the senses. They come by faith, faith in God. And faith comes by hearing.

Now, if you have not heard from God yet, then all you have are circumstances and sense-awareness. Only when you have a word from God can you effectively stand against the circumstances. When you have a promise, you can have hope. When you have a word from God, you can have faith. And once you have faith, you can believe. If faith is a muscle, belief is the strength.

Faith, the Bible says, comes by hearing and hearing by the (spoken) word of Christ – Romans 10:17. Once you have God’s word on the subject, you have received God’s confirmation on the subject. Now you know that He is all-in for you. Once you have sought and received that confirmation, you must take hold of it and hold on to it firm until you receive your answer.

We must continue to hold firmly to our declaration of faith. The one who made the promise is faithful. Hebrews 10:23

We must focus on Jesus, the source and goal of our faith. He saw the joy ahead of him, so he endured death on the cross and ignored the disgrace it brought him. Then he received the highest position in heaven, the one next to the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2

You will keep perfectly peaceful the one whose mind remains focused on you, because he remains in you. Isaiah 26:3

You hold onto it by keeping it firmly in your vision and heart. You must be firmly aware of Him and how He is working in your life, consistent with what He has promised you. One of the best ways to do this is to continually speak His word and to continually praise Him. Think about Him all the time and thank Him for what He is doing all the time. Magnify Him in your ‘awareness.’

What you are most aware of is what you will think and act upon. Stay focused on the promises of God and not on the visible circumstances. Otherwise, we become unstable in our thinking and in our believing. This is not the way to receive from God.

But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:6-8

But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.… James 1:22-25

Believing is not a struggle, but can be hard work and it does take real-time diligent effort. The effort is not trying to look away from the circumstances, but rather to train yourself to keep looking at the promises.

“Turn your eyes upon Jesus; Look full in His wonderful face; And the things of Earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace.”Helen H. Lemmel, 1922
Only when we continue to look at Him can we have the strength and faith to look away. If you keep your heart firmly and consistently on Him, it is much easier to not be so intimately aware of the situation around you. Get to work and keep thinking about Him and praising Him!

  1. Thanks rex, i understand now.
your site has been a blessing to me and i always come back to see your new article, already read all, waiting for a new one. please i want you to help with this. What is the difference between sin unto death and a sin dat is not

  2. What is the difference between the word of God read or heard from a preacher and a spoken word of God as regard faith. Is it that the spoken word is audible from God’s mouth or what, because you said faith comes by hearing the spoken word of God not heard or read word

Ekene – The written word of God is God’s general will. In it He may say, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know,” Jeremiah 33:3. He says this to everyone who will believe it. It is life to our flesh and it is a blessing no matter who repeats it.

But it is not God’s spoken word and will which is specific to an individual and a time. His spoken word will never contradict His written word but it will come alive and be made specific to you. One is a word to everyone, the other is a word TO YOU by HIM. It is one thing to read, “I will make you a father of many nations,” Genesis 17:4, it is quite another thing to hear God say it to you.

God can speak in many ways. One is to have the written word come alive in your heart, like when it ‘just seems to pop off the page.’ This is when you know that God is speaking to you individually. This is when faith comes alive on one of His promises. God bless you. Rex

  3. The word of God says one thing and my circumstances say another. Until my life lines up with the word of God i keep holding my faith because i have the confirmation that God is for me. The devil is a liar. Truth be told it isn’t easy some days are harder and wearisome. Each and every promise i know will come to pass cause He is faithful and no word can come out of His mouth and not achieve what it was intended for. Glory be to God. amen.

  4. I’m curious how “You hold onto it by keeping it firmly in your vision and heart (Genesis 8:21)” speaks to “You hold onto it by keeping it firmly in your vision and heart.”

But I found your post speaking to me personally since I struggle with old desires of the flesh that are ridiculous since I couldn’t do anything about them if I wanted to and now say to myself over and over, “Holy Spirit Fire; the Face of Christ” as I focus on His face, the one I saw when I was 9 as He showed Himself to me while riding on clouds.

It helps me shy away from looking at females everywhere I go and has lessened my stress and has boosted my resolve please Him and not myself.

  5. Thank you so much. Yes, faith is everything. without faith we cannot do the things that are Christ like and we cannot get out of our doubts. If we doubt God cannot hear us and we cannot receive his full armor against the forces of darkness. Therefore we have to have faith so that we can be protected from the deceptions of the devil. I pray that God increase my faith everyday and remove all doubts that the devil might have put in me. Amen.
