P.U.S.H. = Pray Until Something Happens

by Rex Rouis

The way to get real-life results in prayer is to seek God with an attitude that says, “No matter how long it takes, or whatever I have to do, I will not be denied.” This is not arrogance; it is Godly hunger. It is not about pushing God, but about pushing yourself into God. It is not praying for the sake of praying. It is praying to see the hand of God move. It is desperate hungry praying. It is the type of prayer that gets answers.

Faith takes two things, first the written scriptures (hope) and then the spoken personal word of God (faith) – Romans 10:17. The scriptures show us the general will of God and communicate the conditions that must be met to receive faith and see His hand move. His spoken personal word reveals His will to us personally, and lets us know when we have met those conditions. The goal is to hear God confirm His promise and let Him place His witness into our heart. The promise then comes alive and becomes a reality to us. This reality is ‘the substance (lit. – reality, assurance, title-deed) of things (previously) hoped for, the evidence of things not (yet) seen’ (Hebrews 11:1).

This is not arrogance; it’s Godly hunger.
This seeking turns the general promises of God into personal realities. This is the period when we work the word, and the word works in us. Seeking God merges the word of God and the will of God into our lives. We become one with the word. This is what Jesus was referring to when He said, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, (you shall) ask whatever you will, and it will be done for you.” (John 15:7) This faith process turns desires into Bible hopes, and Bible hopes into real life realities. It is not easy, but it is never impossible. Anybody with enough hunger can make it happen.

The process usually takes time, and there are no shortcuts. God does not respond to part-time seekers. He is only found by those who seek Him with their whole heart. The Bible says, ‘You must be diligent so as to realize the full assurance of hope, so that you will receive the promise’ (Hebrews 6:11). Growing faith is hard work, for the Bible goes on to say, ‘Don’t be sluggish but be imitators of those who through faith and patience have inherited the promises’ (Hebrews 6:12).

This is desperate hungry praying. This is the type of prayer that gets answers.
Pray until you receive an answer from God, for when you do, you will have the victory. You must persevere until you get to a place where you are ‘fully assured that what God has promised, (for) He is able also to perform’ (Romans 4:21). When you hear Him, you have the answer, for Paul says, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the (spoken) word of God’ (Romans 10:17). The word translated ‘word’ here is the Greek word rhema, and it speaks of a personal face-to-face type of communication. He is not talking about a mere reading of the word. This is deeper. This is God making the word on the page come alive in your heart. The word on the page must become the word in your heart before you can have enough faith to receive from God.

Then, and only then, you can speak faith’s victory to your life and situation. Speaking words filled with faith is the only kind of speaking that makes a difference. This kind of speaking will move mountains. Seek Him till you hear from Him. Jesus told us that in prayer we should always pray and never give up. Don’t give up! Seek Him till you hear His voice. Let Him deal with your heart, for as you do, He will speak your answer to you. When you hear the answer, you will have the answer.

When you hear the answer, you will have the answer.

  1. I saw a church with “P.U.S.H.” on its board . Got me thinking, but as was said Jesus prayed at the wrong time concerning HIS mission and removing the Cup from HIS lips. GOD BLESS YOU ALL

  2. Pray for me as I mandatory need 4,000 USD(500,000kshs) for my mandatory case of protecting my job allowances due to the transfer…..and my daughter who is in the campus needs university fees urgently. And also to win that case in the Kenyan high court.

  3. I was going through a lot 2015 and I was just surfing the web for encouragement when I came in contact with this site. Until now, I hadn’t been here for years. I had to searching “faith hope and love site” to look for you guys; and the moment I saw this site, I knew it was it and then I clicked on it.

I met someone here that year-2015- by name Anthony Caruso, who gave me Andrew Wommack’s site to listen to the audio teaching “you’ve already got it”. I don’t know if he is still here. Is he still here?

      1. I got things going on in my life and I have a son of deals with mental disorders and chemical imbalance and he gets kicked out of rehabs and whatnot and his prayers can just be prayed for my son Zachary and for me and for my mom and my daughter and my other son for healing and for the light to touch him and to change their hearts and mine

        1. I pray that all.of us including myself will start to.practice inviting andd bring people to church. We are all being tsrgeted ny the devil. We want Godly friends but first we need to introduce these new friends to the Bible do thry will know and be anle to reconize the truth to srt them free.

  4. Rex, I came across your site today. When I read the title of your blog? And read what PUSH meant, I was like oh, my goodness.

I say it like that because a few weeks ago God spoke to us ( my husband and I) and He said ” continue to Push, Push,Push”. As I was pondering over what He said I daid to Him ” Lord, what does that mean”? Of course I know what “push ” mean, but I knew that He meant something deeper than that, and then He leads me to your site to help me get a better understanding of what it meant.

Thank you Rex for allowing God to use you!

Please come and read and follow my blog @ hostofangels2015.wordpress.com

God Bless, my brother in Christ.

Jae – Thank you so much, and God bless you. Seek Him with your whole heart, for then you will find your answers. You will also grow in the process. It is the win-win process that God call ‘salvation.’ Yes, He wants us to have things, but the big thing is growth in Him. We love you. Rex

    2. Does anyone know of somewhere a person to go for some spirit people will pray til something happens i am lost and desperate help help help

  5. This PUSH theory works for Christians who have solid faith in Christ and out heavenly Father…. It makes us see prayer as the only avenue to receive from God …

Esther – Yes it is. For those who are hungry enough to do whatever it takes to seek God, God is there and will be found – “those that seek Him with their WHOLE HEART”. Thanks, we love you. Rex

    2. God i pray i am with you in revelations 22 its my inner deepest desire. I dont understand everything but i know that all the answers are in the bible

      1. Prayer works. There is something that God loves and works more than prayer. It is called obedience. Those who are faithful enough to obey the word of God enjoy quicker and greater blessing than those who PUSH. This is bitter as truth is in the ears of unbelievers.

        1. Kali,

Embrace the power of salvation’s full deliverance, like a helmet to protect your thoughts from lies . And take the mighty razor-sharp Spirit-sword of the spoken Word of God. Pray passionately in the Spirit, as you CONSTANTLY intercede with every form of prayer at all times. Pray the blessings of God upon all his believers.
          Ephesians 6:17‭-‬18 TPT

So he left them and went away to pray the same prayer for the third time.
          Matthew 26:44 TPT

Your argument about not praying for the same thing is not biblical. Even after you say “He repented” which was not repentance. Because to repent would mean that He sinned? I’m 100% certain that He never sinned. Jesus went back to pray a 3rd time after saying “your will be done”.

It is not about doubt. It is about being obedient in seeking Him and seeking answers and speaking Life and just spending time with our Daddy.

          1. Don’t read the Bible as you do textbooks or newspapers. Wisdom is profitable to direct. What happened after Jesus left them behind to go and pray? Didn’t the Bible say He afterwards surrendered to the will of God?

To repent doesn’t necessarily have to do with sin. When a person abandons an old way or opinion to accept a new one too is repentance.

God is not wicked. Even humans don’t withhold good things from their children. God will therefore not depend on the persistency of our prayers to do us good.

Repent. Stop presenting God in a bad light. Drop your pride and accept the truth. You won’t lose anything.

It’s good to pray. When we pray, we submit to God. We demonstrate that He is the source of our being and provisions.

The attention we give to prayer should be directed towards promoting obedience of God’s word. To obey the word of God is better than to pray a million times for something in a day.
God is good. He is not the kind of Being you people are presenting.

Finally, I want to plead with you not to mix praying for faith. Prayer is submission. Faith is confirmation of submission to the will of God.

            1. Author

Kali – Again, we are not Pushing God. We are pushing into God and His will. We are not praying for faith. We are simply seeking God with all our might and will continue that seeking until He speaks to us.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

I believe this tenacity brings joy to Him. We are not presenting God in a bad light by seeking Him hard. We are submitting to the will of God in doing this, for as we seek Him we change. I don’t think we are in pride. I actually think you are in spiritual pride and cannot see another point of view.

            2. You can choose to coin any phrase to defend a faulty narrative. Even so, faithlessness is one of the things that will make someone push into God. Why PUSH when waiting patiently will do? I will not learn from you. I will learn from Jesus, who after PUSH didn’t make any difference, surrendered to the will of God.

Accusing of spiritual pride is unfortunate. Why will you expect me to give thought an alternative view that is not scriptural?

Faith is patient. It is never arrogant. Arrogance is what makes one to blackmail God in the name of PUSH. Instead of PUSH, Obey Until Something Happens (OUSH). You can’t be wrong with obeying God

        2. Kali I have read your posts here and I believe that you are speaking what the Scriptures teach. In fact true faithfulness is and can only be when a believer obeys. Here’s what Romans 1 and Romans 16 says

Romans 1:5 New International Version (NIV)

5 Through him we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from[a] faith for his name’s sake.

Romans 16:25-26 New International Version (NIV)

25 Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, 26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from[a] faith—

          1. Thanks for your frank opinion on this issue. Many have disagreed with me but that will not change the truth. One cannot claim to have faith in God but PUSH Him to do things outside of His timing.

My desire and prayer is that God reveals Himself to us in clearer terms so that we can appreciate the truth even from afar.

            Thank you.

  6. This is deep revelation. To God be the glory. God bless you Rex for submitting to be used for His quest.

    1. The PUSH philosophy portrays God in bad light. It’s also a demonstration of unfaithfulness. God does not delay answering prayer because He wants us to reach the extreme. We have a God that knows the end from the beginning. Why PUSH Him to do His will? God knows what is good for us and at what point in time things should happen. PUSH don’t only demonstrate that we know more than God, it shows that we don’t trust His timing.

      1. Author

Kali – I am sorry but we are not ‘PUSHing’ God in any way. We are hungry believers pushing into Him for blessings like He wants us to. Daniel decided to fast and seek God until God would answer him, and He did. Was that pushing God into it? Things in God just don’t happen. Calling out His name in prayer and aggressively relying on His faithfulness is not a demonstration of unfaithfulness.

Make no mistake. God does stretch us in waiting for the answer. God is testing our resolve and our trust in Him. So many do not last and will fight till they win in Him. “Why PUSH Him to do His will?” – because He wants us to. It is not because He doesn’t want to bless us, but rather, He wants us to PUSH in-Him for the answer. Something wonderful happens when we do. Not only do we get the answer but we get more of Him, and that is the real prize.

I believe in and submit to the timing of God, but some things come easy and others you have to fight for with everything that is in you. Those are the victories the mark you as an Overcomer (Rev 21:6), and those are the victories that bless God the most.

        1. I so trust my biological father that I don’t repeat a request. God is more faithful than my biological father. Stop portraying God as hard hearted. Don’t hold onto this PUSH theology. Repentance is not sin.

          1. Author

Kali, you simply don’t get it. So what is it that compels you to get on a site with an attempt to clean up their theology? Please, get off your high horse and listen for a moment. You might learn something.

No, God is not hard-hearted. Repentance is not a sin. We are not arrogantly pushing God into anything. Please do not comment anymore. Rex

            1. @ FaithMechanic. Thank you for this site and your teaching on things. This article has motivated me not to give up and to keep going deeper with God and not give up on my miracle Im seeking God for. God bless you

            2. In (Genesis 32:22-32 ) Jacob would not let the Angel of the Lord go until he blessed him. This is the same Spirit and idea that Jacob had when he was desperate for a blessing. You really have to hold on without letting go; along with fasting , praying and staying in the word of God until change happens. It’s a push in life just trying to live a Godly life. And for those of you that claim this walk with God is easy you are a liar. Our walk with God needs to be strategic and intentional. At this point , our mind set should be for God I live and for God I will die. The Push is to stay focused on God. Or I like to say , stay connected to the vine. Our everyday decisions is a push.

            3. Unlike what people use to know, prayer is not the key; obedience is. The problem we have as Christians is looking for shortcuts to fulfilling purpose. We want to pray until something happens instead of obeying God’s word, which is a lamp to give perfect direction.

Prayer is the meeting point between God and man. It is a spiritual sacrifice. But God says, to obey is better than sacrifice.

God is not owing anyone blessing. Read Genesis 1:28. We have been blessed. Even then, God expects us to do 4 things: be fruitful, multiply, replenish and subdue. It is when we have done all of these that our blessings becomes manifest. That is the point of dominion mentioned in Genesis 1:28.

              Shalom!

    2. God i pray i am with you in revelations 22 its my inner deepest desire. I dont understand everything but i know that all the answers are in the bible

  7. PUSH is an act of disobedience, arrogance, and faithlessness. Even Jesus, in human nature tried the PUSH mentality but repented and surrendered to the will of God. Stop PUSHING God. Begin surrendering to the will of God.

    1. Author

Kali – You miss the point. What if surrendering to God and pushing into God were the same thing? What if His hunger is what is pushing you on, further into Him? Pushing into God is where you surrender to His will and adjust your life. The relentless pursuit of ‘things’ in God is ultimately a pursuit into God Himself. When you receive your answer you receive more of Him. He is the prize, not the thing. The pursuit and the seeking are actually the main point. The thing you are seeking is just the catalyst. It is what took you there – into the heart of God.

Submitting to His will is never truly real until it is submitting to something real. Jesus did not repent for He had nothing to repent for, that is reserved only for sinners, of which He was not. He submitted to the will of the Cross over His own will. He got His answer. I did title this, “Pray until you get what you want”. But rather, “Pray Until Something (hearing from God, receiving direction, receiving the thing, whatever) Happens.”

The point is to be all-in with God. Not to give up. Seek Him till – till it happens, whatever it is. We love you. Rex

    2. Kali, the article is not about pushing God but pushing yourself to pray. It’s an intentional approach to seek God.
And about Jesus repenting, when did that happen?

  8. Thank you for this opportunity to know more about faith, remain bless.

    1. Thanks for teaching am blessed and understand about prayer of faith

  9. Pray for me I have a lot of family issue loans and I want to know God

  10. First of all I want to thank you for making me know that having faith is the must lmportan thing in my life
