Scriptures To Encourage Yourself In the Lord

James_Tissot_300-webby Rex Rouis

When nothing else will work, encourage yourself in the Lord. Do it with the word of God. “Be assured, if you walk with Him and look to Him, and expect help from Him, He will never fail you.” – George Mueller

But David encouraged himself in the Lord. I Samuel 30:6

For whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that we may have hope through endurance and through the encouragement from the Scriptures. Romans 15:4 Holman Christian Bible

David needed to, and so will you. And if he can do it, you can do it. Let God pour His love and acceptance into you. He is faithful and you are accepted. Receive it and walk in it.

Strength Bible Verses

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. Zephaniah 3:17

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Comfort Bible Verses

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29

Peace Bible Verses

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.1 Peter 5:7

If David can do it, you can do it.

  1. It is powerful to go on a walk alone and talk to God. Just be with Him, share your heart. Pray Romans 12:1-2 today. Salvation is a relationship with God the Father and God the Son by the Spirit. Sing to Him, worship Him., Read Psalm to Him and soon you will be in His presence.. Commit this time with God daily like Daniel did. He prayed three times a day. He did not let anyone or anything get in his way! Even death.,Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

  2. Just another person here looking for encouragement Annis. I hope you get the encouragement you need. When there’s no one to talk to we can talk to God and He does hear. Trust and Believe. The scripture say you will seek Him and find Him when you seek him with all your heart.

  3. God you all, let us all put hands on diske, the church of christ is going aslep, 90% of the pastors are working for lucifer, please let us all come up and fight a good fight of faith, many has lost trust and confidence in the church becaurse of what many pastors are doin. Evang. Samuel. Love you guys but GOD LOVES MOST.

    1. Evangelist Chimnor Samuel, your allegation that 90% of Pastors are “working for lucifer” is a very grave one. Do you have facts to back up this allegation or you are basing your point on the activities of some fake “pastors” or hear say? I agree that there are fraudulent persons parading themselves as pastors and desecrating the name of the Lord. Nevertheless, there are also many genuine men and women of God who are walking with God in truth and in spirit. We should therefore be careful in making wild allegations so that the household of God is not polarized with fake news on pastors.

    2. Personally feel a bit offended because I do practice satanism but hopefully you’ll read up on it one day! To be fair you’re lucifer is far different than OUR lucifer but do keep in mind not all of us are like Richard ramirez and don’t harm anyone and ESPECIALLY children and use our practices as an excuse- though in the past I will say you nasty little buggers stole our traditions and sacrificed many! I have researched both of these seemingly black and white religions and trust me they both have their beauties! Though I do have to say the priests aren’t our devil’s work due to the fact it isn’t our fault they molest many of young and not so young youths! Hope I helped, not to be offensive but I will say some logic CAN help sometimes, I love all religions really.

    3. Christ is the Head of the Church! Regardless what anyone thinks Christ gave His life for mankind to be saved. Everyone has a opinion but Christ is all in all. Stop looking at man and set your focus on Christ Jesus. Whatever plan man has if it is not the will of God it will fail. Christ named the body after Him self, because He wants us to be like Him. Stop looking at man, look to the ONE who created man. No where on earth will you find perfection. The Church if Christ is right. Stop looking at others imperfections and try to be perfect yourself as the Lord instructed us to be, and may the Lord be your guide!

    3. I will pray for you Pastor Mark Stevens. I work with pastors and I know it’s hard what you do, especially with your health and background. I’m just a secretary and I feel like I have to have it all together to help people at church. I’ve been having really bad anxiety this year. That’s why I’ve been reading these verses every night. God bless you.

      1. Will pray here for you brother!! Praying for healing …your mind and all. Soooo many Pastors struggle YES! We all have something for sure! This has been a great little read to encourage myself! Pray for me too! God bless!

    4. Pastor Stevens – I’m sure you know scripture and what it says about trusting in God, etc, etc. Reality is you are in despair and you need solid earth-bound support. I hope you have a good Veterans group near you, a clergy group or church system source you can utilize. My church is an international denomination and my local Conference offers such support, does yours? I also have sources throughout NY, where are you located? Please do not feel alone, you have not completed your God-given earthly purpose, or else He would have taken you; He offers other means to ease you, you just have to find them. I wish you comfort. Please keep us updated because we truly care.

    5. Psalm 34:19 (KJV)
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.

      Galatians 6:9 (KJV)
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Luke 22: behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Be encouraged, Pastor. Sometimes we pour out so much spiritually to others, we forget to spend time with Him and in His Word and in prayer to be edified, refreshed, and strengthened. All The Word you need is in you and in your Bible. Sometimes we forget. Everything I am saying is evidenced by how those 3 to 4 bible verses quickened you as you just read them.

And as the effectual fervent prayers of the Righteous for you are being answered right now. It is well…love you…God will continue to bless the work of your hands…seek His Will…and obey His Instructions and that Peace that surpasses all understanding will rule in and through you.

More Grace be unto and peace be multiplied to you and yours!

    6. Oh Brother Stand firm…we all have those seasons of Intense fear, dread, and feelings of Abandonment. Just remember This too will pass.

        1. Author

Yes. When you approach a king, he can answer as he likes. It is the same with God. We seek Him and His answer. The ‘no’ means that we must seek further or for something else. The ‘yes’ is the answer that is the basis of faith, it is what is referenced in Romans 10:17 and Hebrews 11:1.

The ‘no’ is not meant to come by unanswered prayer later one, but in the heart when we are seeking Him. Yes, means faith, and faith means yes. As one Bible teacher once said, “Faith begins when the will of God is known.” We love you. Rex

  15. Don’t worry God is in control

You just have to praise him. He has you
and your kids and palm of his hand.
    Nothing is imposible for him.
No weapon form againgt you should prosper. You are more than a conquer,
With Christ , you are not alone.
The victory is yours. Believed and declare. You have to see yourself and
Court getting the veredict on your favor. Give thanks to God, he already pay the price , He gave his life for us.
God loves you and your kids.

    Read psalm 18

  16. I’m asking everybody to pls pray for me and for my children to come home. They are involved with the state and are with therre grandfather who is beating on them and mistreating them. I had a meeting today and it didn’t go my way there are talking about legal screening to try to change the outcome of my kids coming back home with Lord knows I need my babies home and I’m trying everything and my power to get my babies home. I have court next month on the 29th and I need all the prayers I can get that it goes in my favor and they don’t take my kids away

  17. I ask that you cover me in prayer for spiritual growth. I want a close and intimate relationship with GOD but honestly it seems like he doesn’t hear my prayers. I don’t get answers and I have not truly felt HIS presence in a very long time. I believe because my spiritual man is all out of wack and it has caused my natural life to be out of line and off track. So many things are going wrong and I just don’t know what to do.

    1. Lavina, I am sorry you are in distress. We must keep in mind that God does hear all prayers, sometimes the answer to our request is “no” and we just don’t hear that so if we don’t get what we ask for we think he hasn’t heard. When he says no it’s because he has something else for us and we must trust his wisdom. It’s very hard to accept that, I know (I’m still trying), but continued prayers will strengthen our trust and faith. Give your concerns up to God. He can bear them all even when we can’t. Do your best and let him do the rest. Don’t be so hard on yourself.
