The Holy Spirit’s ‘Still Small Voice’

God-the-Father-Bologna-350-webby Rex Rouis

I was reminded of a story from a minister friend, told to me many years ago. It is appropriate for today and every day:

I was in my car pulling out of a tight alleyway in a downtown area. Cars were parked on either side of the ally exit and I could not see the oncoming traffic very well. Once I thought I was clear I started to pull out. But, deep inside, I heard a soft inner voice telling me to, “Stop, don’t pull out.” It was faint and easy to miss. I did notice and I stopped.

Immediately, a delivery truck rushed by directly in front of the alley, exactly where I would have been. If I had pulled out, I would have been hit and instantly killed. It shook me. I could have just died.

I thought about that soft voice that saved my life. I thought about how soft it was and how easily I could have missed it. It started to make me angry – “That is not loud enough! Why couldn’t God speak louder than that?” I even said so to God.

Then, I felt God’s awesome presence fill my car and the Holy Spirit spoke very forcefully to me. He said, “Yes, it is a soft voice, and yes it is possible to miss it if you don’t pay attention, but THAT IS ALL YOU ARE EVER GOING TO GET.” Wow, now I was really shaken. I cried out in heartfelt repentance, “Lord, I am so sorry. I thank you for your still small voice, I appreciate it and I am thankful for it just the way it is.”

And yes folks, that is all we are ever going to get. God said as much to Elijah.

So He said, “Go forth and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD was passing by! And a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, a voice came to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 1 Kings 19:11-13 – Note – And after the fire – a soft, murmuring sound, or, a still small voice (qol dmamah daqah, v. 12).

God usually does not speak in a loud voice; people with real authority do not have to. His is the type of voice that one must get close to to hear. “Incline your ear,” He says.

Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David. Isaiah 55:3

Most everything in God comes down to hearing His voice. That is why the doctrine that says that God does not speak today is so insidious and dangerous. It attacks the very heart of our walk with God. If God does not speak then faith, specific obedience, and His direct involvement in our lives all falls apart. Faith, the Bible says, comes from hearing, and hearing comes from someone speaking, and that Someone is God.

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the (spoken) word of Christ. Rom. 10:17

The word for ‘word’ in the above verse indicates a spoken personal type of communication; a person-to-person communication. A communication from the heart of God to the heart of man. A word that can only be heard with the heart – a hearing heart.

“Yes, it is a soft voice, and yes it is possible to miss it if you don’t pay attention, but THAT IS ALL YOU ARE EVER GOING TO GET.”
It is not a hearing of the mind, nor it is of the intellect. This kind of hearing does not come from reading. It does not come from someone else speaking – even if they are speaking from the written word of God. It comes directly from Christ Himself. Jesus told us that He would speak to us through the Holy Spirit, and that is exactly what it is. This word and this hearing are the basis of faith.

Hearing from God is more of an art than a science. Hearing from Him must be valued and practiced. It is a lifelong lifestyle and walk. God is a living Person and not an inanimate force. He can be wooed and He can be grieved. He can be received and He can be shunned. He can be valued and he can be rejected. He looks at it all. You need to listen to Him before you pull-out in life.

  1. When I was 10, my mother and I came home from church one afternoon, we went straight into the kitchen to make lunch as we started to make a sandwich at the table. And all of a sudden I hear a man’s gentle voice speaking in tongues I was shocked and looked at my mother, we stayed silent for a few moments then my mother asked if I heard the voice, I replied yes and my mother said on 3 say what you heard. 123 I heard a man speaking in tongues we both replied. We were both shocked but when we heard the voice we felt a welcoming presence, we didn’t have fear or felt any kind of way but just in peace we felt. Can anyone try to explain who it’s was? Who I felt it was the holy spirit

    1. The Holy Spirit is not the author of confusion. The Holy Spirit guides you into all truth. Just because someone has an experience sees a vision hears a voice or has a feeling does not mean it came from God. The Bible is very clear on Truth take your experience to the Bible and see if it aligns with it or if it contradicts.

    2. I had a Still Small Voice tell me to get out of my car and look where I was about to back out. I did. That was 40 years ago and the Still Small Voice is still clear to me now. Two very young children were playing under the rear bumper of my car. I was shocked that a voice directed me to save their lives. It was clearly a God experience.

    3. The Apostle Paul said tongues would cease. They have. Always test the spirit. This wasn’t of God.

      1. Paul said when that which is perfect has come all of those things which are in part would cease. Now we see dimly… but THEN face to face. now I know in part….. THEN I shall know! Paul is not talking about the Bible, (which is what most Christian’s think he is referring to) we believe he is taking about Christ. When He comes, we shall see Him face to face. And the things God uses …. Like the gifts of the Spirit, to grow and mature the church, and demonstrate the kingdom of God will no longer be needed. Study this out I pray! I have seen them all in operation. I have witnessed the true, and also the counterfeit. But the Holy Spirit did not stop operating among the body of Christ in the first or second century.
Ask God ! With a heart to know of whet Paul then, continued to teach was only for them for a little while longer? Or does it apply to us today? Does some of the Bible no longer apply? Think about it!
        Blessings

        1. I’m in agreement with you sir/ms.
The benefit of having The Holy Spirit giving us information is so valuable. I’ve had received knowledge after my speaking in my spiritual language and reached out to the person I believed the revelation was for. It was a first experience in my responding to what I believed God was speaking to me. When I spoke to the person, it took them back. They looked at me and said, “Today, I needed that.”
The Holy Spirit is a very important part of the God Head. He wants to help us.

  2. im scares i had fear of blasphemy of the holy spirit i always asked for an answer i heard a voice say i have no hope and i didnt know wwho it was cominfg from the voice said all my sheep know my voice im scared

    1. The very fact that you are concerned about this shows you didn’t. Draw close to God and He will draw close to you. Don’t go looking for God to speak, just expect it. Just read the bible, simply learn what Jesus was teaching, how he taught, and in what manner he taught them. Good resources I found are on gty.org that’s grace to you John macarthur sermons, with free podcasts.

    2. Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved.

Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.

John 6:37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.

Romans 10:13 Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

If you want to repent you can. You are saved and so loved!!!!!!

A person who commits the unpardonable sin is so hard hearted that they don’t care. You care. You are saved. God loves you very much.

  3. If an 8 yr old boy gets up in the middle of the night to use the toilet and while doing so hears a voice that says “Turn around.” The boys is frightened, afraid, does not turn around but hurrys back to bed. He tells his parents about it in the morning.
    Who spoke to the boy?

    1. ! Samuel 3
Good place to read from God’s Word for a similar experience q young boy had.
Eight years of age is a wonderful “clear and clean” time in a young child’s life don’t you think? Can you remember being that young, the thoughts and enjoyments that were so innocent? In this day and age, we are privy to so many more things than I was able to see and hear at that age. Social media that is found in so many applications today can capture our attention and instill thoughts, pictures that can find their way into what we might call our deep thought. These things that we think on can offer “suggestions” that can root themselves into our thinking process – where we can act on the “rooted” results of that thinking.
The story in 1 Samuel 3 is a story (a true story) about a young man who was devoted to serving God. I don’t know what your young son has been allowed to influence his young life. It would be hard to know what is fighting for his attention. God is a good God. He loves us. There would be nothing better for Him (through The Holy Spirit) to draw your son to Himself at this young age just like he did Samuel. Our heavenly Father desires to have us, to experience what He has made and designed us for. And He is a jealous God. His influence focused into a young person’s life can be life forming and life changing.
Can you speak to him of such things? Ask your heavenly Father to guide you. He loves you as well and wants His best for you too!

      1. Thank you for your comments. I am well aware of the young Samuel story. What I found disturbing about this incident is the boy’s fear. It is my belief that this is an indication that the voice was not from God. So often when God has a message it is accompanied by the words fear not or similar words. As I read the Young Samuel story, Samuel was not frightened. (He thought it was Eli calling him. ) When God spoke to Samuel, He called him by name, which is also often a sign of God.

        1. Sandra
I’m glad that you know God’s Word and that you are familiar with 1Samuel 3. I agree that Samuel wasn’t afraid when he was called. His mom dedicated him at an early age, and he grew up with that family atmosphere around him. William Branham had a “scary incident” in his early childhood as he relates his Christian experience. I personally can’t offer more to help. I’m not sure who you have reached out to looking for direction. If you attend a church, the church elders should be a consideration for sharing your concerns and getting their thoughts and direction. I often use the material on this website for insight. The material here is very helpful. I also use another website. It’s awmi.net
They have a 24/7 prayer line with qualified attendants who will listen to you and share scriptures pertinent to your needs. Hope this helps

    2. I PRAY YOUR YOUNG BOY FIND HIS PLACE IN GOD, MY HE CONTINUE TO GROW IN GOD’S GRACE.

      1. Thank you for commenting. However, my question regards the source of the voice that said ” Turn around.” Nothing in my 70+ yrs of experience leads me to believe this was God speaking. If not God…?
That 8 yr old boy is now 57, a devout Catholic, devoted husband and father.

  4. I heard the Lord LOUD AND CLEAR he said “LOOK” as I and a friend walked back to her home thru the marked crosswalk with the right of way belonging to us.
It is something that changed my life FOREVER!!!
I heard God say “Look” I immediately turned my head in the exact direction it needed to be to see the vehicle, a black 2005 Cadillac CTS, veering right at me as I was on the right of Sandy, who when I, without any thought , moved or contorted my body somehow as to only have my feet run over, was gone. She had been struck and thrown 100 feet dying upon impact.
So yes He does yell too.
Well he didn’t Yell but he said very sternly “LOOK”

  5. Yes, it is a still small voice. I heard it once and once only. Just one word in the depths of despair – which was all the answer required. I didn’t understand it at the time as it was implausible but it was eventually fulfilled several years later.
It was audible, it definitely was not my own thoughts and something outside of me. I shall never forget it. Thanks be to God.

  6. The Holy Spirit told me and I quote ” He will keep his promise” while I was shaving and preparing to go out. I felt the intense peace and joy and assurance fell on me and that it will come to pass and that lasted a few days. My question is, is that God’s sovereign will for me meaning it will definitely come to pass regardless whether I make a wrong or right decisions along the way? Thanks

    1. Author

Nat – That was a great encouraging word from the Holy Spirit, and you heard it. Good work. I believe all of God’s messages are contingent on continued obedience. And the level of that required obedience is based on our level of maturity and what is required of us. The balance here is that God is trying to get things to us and is not looking for a reason not to give it to us. He wants us blessed but He also wants us to grow.

Remember believing is of the heart and not in your mind, so you can have a crazy thought fly through your head, but don’t let it make a nest in your heart. Keep looking at the great law of liberty and don’t forget who you are, who God is, and what He has said to you. Write them down, date them, and put them on the mirror.

      1. I would not trust any voice in my head that is outside the written word of God. “I have stored they word in heart, that I might not sin” too many people think that their thoughts and feelings somehow are God’s voice when it isn’t , therefore we have many false prophets , and false teachers today that the bible clearly warns us about throughout the whole bible. Be careful with that.

        1. Ty, you do have a good point. I’m trying to understand exactly what it means to listen to the Holy Spirit after recently coming back to God. I feel I am learning to listen to Him…but I definitely didn’t hear any voice in my head. It was a scary depiction, too. But I felt God helped me know through His word and everything going on in my life. It was actually people thinking they ARE hearing from Jesus and the Holy Spirit which may have helped get me away from the Bible in the first place.
          So…I can’t say people don’t hear God’s voice.
But for me, I wanted to hear it so much in the past, it put me in bondage. Now , I feel obeying God’s Word is even more important. And just connecting to what the Holy Spirit puts in your heart, as His holiness.

  7. What are you trying to prove by entering this type of information here? I pray The Holy Spirit rebuke you in the name of Jesus for entering into a site that worships God, Jesus and His Holy Spirit. There is no place for those thoughts here. Consider what this site has to offer by way of encouragement and enlightenment to the truth about God. I encourage you to come with a heart eager to know Him – while He may be found

      1. The statement you are asking me about is a comment I made to this topic. While the original comment to this topic was deleted (it was a radical retort), my answer was not. There may be some confusion left there because of that.
As a believer, my belief is that God exists in three persons – Father (God), Son (Jesus) and The Holy Spirit (the Spirit sent at Pentecost to believers in the world at that time and carried through into this present time). I do question if everyone knows they can have this personal relationship with God – that it is available to them
This is the beginning of The New Testament Church.
I worship God for His presence in my life, for all that He allows me to enjoy in His creation.
I worship Jesus and thank Him for His atonement, bringing me into fellowship with the Father, which sin stopped me from having that fellowship.
I worship (am thankful) for the Holy Spirit (who spoke into my life showing my need of a savior) who is the guardian in my Christian experience who speaks to me through God’s Word (the Bible) and makes His (Gods) promises and truths known to me. It’s not an individual worship as such, it’s three in one. I’m thankful for all three. When I worship God, it’s ALL THAT HE IS.
I certainly hope there isn’t any confusion caused by my answer. I’m still growing. My train hasn’t arrived at the station (so to speak) but it has left the station for its future destination. I’m still growing.

Yes, I took that crazy comment out and it made Andy’s reply confusing. Sorry for that. Rex

  8. There was once I woke up in the middle of the night. I don’t know whether was it from God or not. The word just came into me like this “Your job is to blah blah blah” which I don’t want to go into details. Usually, we would not think of anything during the waking up state which is between sleeping and the waking up state. And these words just came in during that moment. My question is, was it from God? Thanks

    1. The state you’re referring to is called “hypnagogia” …that’s where you receive messages from the Holy Spirit. Usually you don’t hear it or see it it’s just there. But you will sometimes hear it as a small, still voice when more important things are being spoken to you because God wants your attention, so He will let you hear Him. So I would be inclined to say yes it was from God but you need to read 1 John 4 and use discernment because malevolent spirits can speak to you the same way.

    2. I have had occasions when I heard the still small voice. Once when I was worried about a mammogram and the Voice said, “Have I ever Forsaken you? “ Another time I was at the ICU heading down the hall to see my mother and the voice said “do not go back there “. I grabbed my grown daughters arm and told her not to go back there she asked me why and I said I don’t know. My husband came and told me that she had passed away. Once I was in my office typing and the Voice said “There will be an incident on the ship, you will remain unharmed. “ Our tour involved being on the North Sea, it was extremely rough. Some people were injured and there was a lot of damage inside the ship. I remembered the voice and I was very calm.

  9. I was blessed by your message. God- Holy Spirit, reminds me again to be sincere on pay attention to listen His “still small voice”.

This message is “rema ” to me. And I thank GOD for using your life as mouthpiece of JESUS CHRIST, for his people.

God Bless your kind heart. Shalom from Philippines !!

  11. This is amazing, I thank God that i found this platform, I know its devine appointment and a blessing, I have grown so much from the material I study on this platform. I just want to find out about dreams, does God also speak in dreams?

    1. I, too, thank GOD for finding this platform today as I oftentimes struggle w/knowing that I’ve heard from GOD. There are times when I know for sure and there are times that the enemy of our soul tries to impersonate Him.

This is the first time that I’ve made a comment on any sight [that I can remember].

But, today, thru the Holy Spirit, you, Bro. Rex, and particularly thru the passage in I kings 19:11-13 has tremendously helped. It is NOTHING like early morning fellowship w/GOD guiding and directing HIS Children. Thank GOD for each of you even the brother who lacks understanding of the Faithfulness and Compassion of our HEAVENLY FATHER GOD, SAVIOR AND LORD!

      1. Author

Janice – Thank you for your comment. We love you. Keep being encouraged in God. Rex

    2. Dear Palesa

Yes i confirm, God does speak in dreams too, like the Small Still Voice you hear, God speaks to his children through dream. He wants to show us great things that we have not known and direct us, he also answers our questions in our dreams.

When i was pregnant in Yr 2007, I asked God how will be my son when he is grown up. And my God answered me, in my dream He gave me Isaiah 59:21

“My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever,” says the Lord.

Today my son Herwin is 10Yrs Old and God speaks to him through dreams and how him great things.

I thank God that He is always with us, we just have to incline our ears and our heart totally to him.

      Stay Bless

  12. I needed some alone time with God. When I find myself with this desire, I know where to go to find some “food” for thought. This morning, it was here! As I started to look over the topics, I was seeking to find something that aroused my attention. I did.
Sometimes our path gets a little weary, putting one foot in front of another with no real joy, just the daily grind and I start to think, “is this really the way you spoke to me about going Lord”? I’m there right now but my thoughts go back to why I/we made this decision and go in this direction at this stage in my/our lives. I can’t stop now, we are committed in the actions we have taken and the decisions we have made to this point. Yes, it is a little overwhelming just now, that’s why I’m up and “listening and hearing”. Thank you Father I have a place where I can go and read and see how others in these same situations have handled themselves and sought guidance and found comfort in instruction and have penned their experiences for others to see. Thank you Jesus that you found me and want to “grow” me into God’s own image. Thank you Holy Spirit for living in me and showing me/guiding me/speaking to me for my immediate steps. Thanks Rex for your “hearing” from our Heavenly Father and following Him.
    Andy

      1. Amen….Yes this is humbling and so beautifully said, thank you Andy. for
        sharing.

  13. That is all we are ever going to get? Just the bare minimums right ? It’s almost like the person who is just waiting for you to fall so they can kick you while you’re down. “Well you were warned to listen.” Like barely speaking up to someone who needs help or love or communication. You just barely tell them, knowing in full awareness you could speak like a normal person and just talk to them. But instead no you have to play games and barely talk so to keep them guessing, or if they don’t listen and do have genuine doubts you show no mercy. What a joke. Don’t be sorry. Your life could have ended! God or not he will hear it from me. Show some care and compassion. We aren’t your stupid game pieces.

    1. Author

Sorry Jonathan, you don’t get it and your little diatribe doesn’t work. God gives us enough and the hungry ones will get it. You don’t. Hopefully you will someday. Rex

      1. I know this is over three years old but just in case someone comes here searching for love;
Rex’s Response to Jonathan, gave me pause and hurt my heart. “Jonathan I am so sorry that you were shown no honor or love when you really needed it the most.”
Jonathan is obviously hurting and it is causing him great anger and doubt. I have actually walked in those same shoes so I completely understand why he made the comments that he made above. It doesn’t make him unworthy of respect or love from us or the Heavenly Father. But what completely shocked me is that Rex aka FaithMechanic showed no love, understanding, mercy, or compassion for where Jonathan is. That answer of “you don’t get it” was devoid of love and extremely harsh. Everyone is at a different place in their walk. Even a non believer may have been drawn here by his inner man but instead of finding love he finds a rude condemning brush off. “I” and others here, know that the truly hungry find answers but a new believer, non believer, and even a long time believer that suddenly finds themselves in the worst trial of their life may not realize that fact. Sometimes a person needs help, patience, kindness, and guidance to get them through the pain. Yes some are simply here to troll but do you think love is a better way to plant a seed in that person’s life? Perhaps instead of spouting “you don’t get it” you could have honored him with a loving answer that would in fact state the exact same thing but from a stance of love instead of judgement. I’m glad God gives you enough Rex, but I will ask that God also give you more love in your heart and grace towards others no matter who they are or where they are in their search. I’m sorry Rex, I’m trying to honor you and not condemn you but, your answer is why so many non believers want nothing to do with God. I watched a wonderful professor demonstrate a debate between he and his students. The students acted as Christian believers and the professor acted as a non Christian. Basically the students would tell him why they believe Christianity is the only way, and try to bring him to Christ. By the end of the debate with a few upset, pushy, judgmental, short students trying to convince him to believe in Christ he asked them one simple question,,,,,,, “How did you treat me?” not who won but “how did you TREAT me?”
I’m just going to put a small clip here: “…and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”
May everyone who reads this know that we are ALL loved.

        1. Teresa it’s okay. I don’t even remember this probably because it wasn’t building or helpful. I will say life is barely worth it. I’m doing my best to trust and have faith even in a world full of evil that’s only going to get worse, and to a God who still remains silent and doesn’t help in ways I should think he should help me. I’m asking for forgiveness and just doing the Best I can.

          1. Jonathan
The material that Rex has compiled and placed on this site for our reading and reference is wonderful to me but does it answer every question I have? No! I’m sure it has taken many, many, hours of personal study and alone time to pen these articles for our help in understanding this God who loves us and desires to have relationship with us. He (God) made us in such a way that we have “free” choice to make decisions about our life. It doesn’t mean we make the right choices, it just means he doesn’t stop us from making our own choices. We choose. Is there a direction He prefers us to go in (?), yep, I believe there is. He has put in us (in every man) an intuitive knowledge to know that there is a God. If you (or I) search for these answers, we will find them, you will find them, I will find them.
You don’t know me, I don’t know you, but I believe you have a heart to know this God who is written about on this site. I’m not sure where else you have looked for answers for questions you have, questions you would like to have answers for – for direction, for wisdom and knowledge, to be able to make good decisions and have a good future. I can tell you (this is for me as much as it is you) that if you will draw close to Him, He will draw close to you. If you want to “hear” Him, pick up your bible. When you read it, you will hear Him. Those words you are reading – He spoke those words and someone wrote them down – for you, for me. When you start to understand His words of instruction (and you will, little by little) then, you have heard Him. Respond to these words in faith (your responsible actions). You may not like the finished product in your attempt. Speak to Him about it, see what He says. Maybe He already did give you an answer. Trust His word. He honors His Word above His name.

  14. This is great. Oh! How I long to hear from my saviour all my days. Please is there category of people that should hear from God? Secondly, individually, are there many ways God speaks to us or does He speak in a specific way to us? Thanks and God bless.

    1. Author

Thank you. In their hearts, all Christians long to hear from Him. All categories of people can hear from God, but all Christians should hear from Him. God can speak to use through situations and other people but mostly He speaks to us in our hearts. In my 40 years or so of following Him, I have heard His actual voice one time, His voice in my heart so that I could write down what He actually said a dozen or so times, a simple ‘knowing’ in my heart many many times, and a positive peace or a negative grieving in my heart very often. Keep going when you have peace and stop when you do not. Then find out why.

He does not lead directly and consciously by the Spirit’s leading every single moment of every day because then you would not learn and obey the word of God (Bible). He wants us to make moral decisions based on our knowledge of His written will. He watches us. Life, I believe, is a test. We will all one day stand before Him and He will go over everything we did in this life. God bless you. Rex

    2. I’ve been a Christian for 50 years yet I had an underlying fear I could not shake .. One day on my daily walks when I praise God, singing and praying, I heard an audible voice behind me that sounded like rushing water which had no gender, sounded neither male or female… to this day I reflect on that moment that changed my life forever✨

  15. You know, it makes sense that in the middle of a crisis where everyone’s voice is screaming to be heard, that the one voice that’s the calmest and most peaceful, is the one that should be listened to. Remember, He won’t tell us something that always leads to an immediate, peaceful resolution. Yet, it will always lead to His perfect will being done. It shouldn’t have to make sense to us, in order for us to know that it’s His voice and obey.

Patrick – Thanks, I mostly agree. I believe His perfect will is a peaceful resolution. It might not be immediate but it is the goal. Faith is the victory over the evil of this world and age, and the Bible says that ‘faith comes by hearing.’ So, hearing from the God of Heaven, the God of the future, is the road (faith walk) to victory and peace.

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world– our faith. I John 5:4

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11

All the paths of the LORD are lovingkindness and truth To those who keep His covenant and His testimonies. Psalm 25:10

He has the victory laid out for us, we just have to seek Him, and His word, to find the route and then follow it. God bless you. Rex

  16. Thank you for this. It’s the first time I’ve ever hear someone talk of God’s “Still small voice.” It’s also a confirmation to me as I was just praying and getting a message, I need more prayer time. Consistent and purposefully planned and keep! Keeping an appointment with God, daily. I believe it’s just the start in a more meaningful and deeper relationship with God and the need of my heart for a deep healing from a life of torment do to an extremely severe and debilitating childhood. I am blessed to be here, to be alive and in the care of my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ!

Joan – Thanks, great comment. Hearing from God is more of an art than it is a science. After all, He is a Person and not a thing. We are learning to relate and communicate with the great divine Person of the Universe. And when you hear Him you can count on it, that is faith.

Keep your appointments. A quiet time with God can be the loudest part of the day. We love you. Rex

  17. How easy it is to miss that voice and discard a warning. Let me be able to hear your voice Lord.

  18. God is almighty. Yesterday a word comes out of my mouth that I knew I did not say it for myself. But I took it for granted and it flew over my head. In the morning when I was ready to go out, I said to myself that I am going to meet someone today. I did not know how and why I said it, but I did meet someone new that day; but because I did not meditate on the word or think about it; we were unable to talk that day. This was someone God sent to me. Now I started thanking God to make it possible for us to meet again and be able to understand each other. I sometimes knew that God has spoken to me.
I have a question. How and where do we learn to speak in tongues? I was listening to this pastors CD, and it said that in order to be more protected, and be closer to God ,you have to be able to speak in tongues. Thank you for the word.

  19. In my junior year of high school, I left home around 5AM for football practice. The streets were empty when I came to a stop at a major intersection. I waited for the light to turn green. I looked both left, right, to the rear and front and there was no one, no vehicle but when the light turned green, something told me not to go.

A truck came out of nowhere from my left speeding around 65MPH and would have demolished me by hitting the driver’s side of my car and killing me.

I pulled over to the side of the road, and just wept, thanking Christ for saving me for His purpose which I would not find out what that was for another 50 years.
