Faith Is Meant to Turn God’s Promises into Our Realities

What is the purpose of faith? Faith is God’s chosen vehicle to get His salvation and His blessings to you in a controlled and legal way. Now, there is more to that statement than we can cover in one article, but here is one thought – We have the promises so that we might be partakers of God’s salvation, character, and blessings. The purpose of Salvation and the purpose of faith is to turn promises into reality.

Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. Through these, He has given us His precious and magnificent promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, now that you have escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge;… II Peter 1:2-5a

Faith and believing are how we access God and everything God has. John 3:16 talks about God loving the whole world, but it goes on to say that only believers would share in His eternal life and be spared from judgement. That eternal life, by the way, starts now and not when we die. Through faith we can share in His eternal life, eternal salvation, and eternal will – now in this life, and of course, in the life to come. Through faith we can live in the benefits of His eternal Kingdom. That is why the Lord’s prayer states, “Your will be done on earth as it (already) is in Heaven (Matthew 6:10).

Again, one of the main purposes of the Bible is to turn the promises of God into our earthly realities. They are already spiritual realities in Heaven. The purpose of prayer is to make ‘the will be done as it is (already) in Heaven, and the purpose of believing is to get our prayers answered.

So, what is the purpose of the Bible? Is it to show us all the things we’re doing wrong? Is it to show us what we will have only in the next life? Or is it merely religious literature? No to all these things. The purpose of the Bible is the turn God’s will in heaven into God’s will in the Earth. The purpose of the Bible is to turn the spiritual realities of His promises into physical realities in our life. God can do that when we believe His promises. It is real and He is real.

I understand the part where you said “believe in His promises,” but what do you mean by saying we must obey Him too? Is it faith plus obedience? Do you mean obeying all the laws of morality listed in the laws handed down in the days of Moses? And if there is obedience required to the commandments of old or any other type of commandments, where does this ability come from? seeing that the mind set on self will is an enemy to God; it will not and cannot obey or submit. So what do you mean by obedience; and to what? And what is your source of energy for obedience. Is it part you and part God? or all of you and no God, or all of God and no you? Please clarify.

      1. She means to obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Seek him, and obey or do what he ask in trust.

      2. In believing in Jesus as the eternal sacrifice that made peace with God we now can come boldly before the throne of God and live our lives in his presence know the Holy Spirit lives in us. Signified by the veil in the temple tearing from top to bottom at the death of Christ. He established a new covenant with man and fulfilled the prophesy he gave to Joel that His law now is written in the hearts of believers. We live as the Holy Spirit guides us and in so doing keep his commands summed up in “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your might, and love your neighborhood as yourself”. As you do God will teach you by His Spirit living in you. Devour the word of God and you will know him.

It is funny how as you grow in Christ and His word and start to read it on a spiritual level and feed yourself with encouraging pure articles like this how you start to understand this more and more. I probably read this a year ago or so a few times and simply didn’t “get it”, today more than ever I do. Harvest of the seed. Thank you Rex.

  6. If we stand firmly on what you hope for. Their is nothing that will make you fail of what you imagine to accomplish. God wants to help you. He wants to. You are seated in Jesus and you are beautifull. God loves us.

  7. Trusting (having faith) in God’s promise gives us strength to obey HIM. This is Faith…I put my faith in Jesus’s faith..

    1. Thanks Phil, I like what you said; “faith in His promises produces obedience.”

  8. We get to release the fullness of faith substance which came by hearing trusted promise. Prayer cloth. Touch. The Name. Charis manifestations. Miracles. Not by works traded but by the hearing of faith miracles are released. Trust The Lord wholeheartedly.
