How to Face an Impossible Situation – By Faith

by Rex Rouis

How are we to face impossible situations, ignore them and hope they go away, or face them with an overcoming faith in God? We need to know because only a correct response will bring success. The Bible tells us to respond with faith, because with Him nothing is impossible.

Jesus said, “The things that are impossible for people to do are possible for God to do.” Luke 18:27 God’s Word Translation

And Jesus, having turned His eyes upon them and having considered them, said to them, In the presence of men, as men look at this, it is impossible. But in the presence of God, as He looks at this, all things are possible. Matt 19:26 Wuest Expanded Translation

Only faith is able to grasp the reality of the possible in the face of the impossible. Only faith has the power to move seemingly impossible mountains. Only faith has the ability to look directly at an impossible situation and know that it will change.

Abraham had a clear understanding of how impossible his situation was. Both he and Sarah were way past the age of bearing a child, but God had promised that they would. In Abraham’s heart, the reality of God’s promise was more real that the facts about their situation. He did not ignore the facts, but rather he considered the facts as temporary and God’s promise as permanent and real.

Only a heart filled with faith can face the impossible and still know that God can change it. Read how Abraham had sufficient faith to look directly at the impossible and yet be fully persuaded that God was able to perform what He had promised.

(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who quickens the dead, and calls those things which be not as though they were. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. Romans 4:17-21

Faith is not ignoring the problem. Faith is the tangible knowing that God is bigger than the problem, and that He is willing and able to help. Acknowledging the problem is the first step in obtaining faith. Faith has the courage to look at what currently is and still know what will be.

Faith ‘calls those things which be not as though they were’. This is the creative power of faith. It brings the power and presence of God into any situation. Denial, on the other hand, ‘calls those things which be as though they are not’. This is not creatively running to the issue with the power of God. This is running from the issue with the weakness of man. Run to the roar with the faith of God. He can change any situation.

How then do you receive this faith? By running to the Word of God, and by seeking Him till you get the answer. When faith comes, so comes the answer and the victory. The Bible says that, ‘Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the (spoken personal) word of God’. Seek Him till you hear Him. You are literally one hearing away from victory in any seemingly impossible situation.

Faith is the tangible knowing that God is bigger than the problem, and that He is willing and able to help.

  2. I understand that this world is not our home. It is bitter, cold, intolerable and insufferable but it is a learning and strengthening experience for us and the time when our faith will grow in God. Just think of this, that no matter what u r going through it is better to suffer here for a hundred years than in Hell for eternity, Shouldn’t we be forgiving and longsuffering with those who have wounded us after all if they dont ask for forgiveness from God their fate is far worse than ours and that would be tragic. We have to be stronger than our pain and push into Jesus Christ. HE WILL GET US THROUGH AND FIGHT OUR BATTLES!

  3. Ann,My name is Dot. I am in the same exact situation as you. I am about to loose my matrimonial home due to accumulated mortgage arrears. He left me with all the loans. Now I can’t keep up with the mortgage yet he takes all proceeds from our jointly acquired assets. He is in contempt for that. My lawyer is reluctant to persue the contempt. He Refused to support his two children. I ‘ve lost strength to keep fighting. I do all the right things but get injustice. I pray that God intervenes but I get so low in Faith sometimes. I go through anxiety at night, its really taking a toll in my health. I need to be healthy to be able to take care of my children. I’m so broke that I survive on handouts. Till when? Some one pray for me and Ann to get justice.

    1. IT can always be worse.. remember that.. I’m proof.. Unless God intervenes… I’m going to court in April facing 30 years for lying to get a passport.. YES.. I a citizen of the US.. both parents born in the US… my husband left me in the most horrible way, I’m on indefinite suspension from my job, I have no retirement, and working at a retail store…I realized through all of this I have to have faith in where God is taking me to…NOT what I am going through.. This storm in my life will pass. I will be victorious. I will be acquitted or my case will be handled through other venues and I will get my job back with back pay. God does not physically walk through these storms with you but he does send people and comforting thoughts to walk through the tough times…

    2. Hello Dorothy, I am so sorry to hear that someone else is going through this, but unfortunately there are so many women that I have heard of recently with the same if not similar stories. In the recent weeks since I sent my desperate prayer request people have reached out but we have not been able to connect. However in that week god tried to show me that he is present it is just hard to wait. IF that is what is required, and it is so hard to take action, when you don’t know if that is what you should do. When you do take action you feel blocked let me share with you some sermons and psalms that have been helping me. I don’t know where you live or what your support system is like. I know what it can be thou because people friends and family grow weary and you wonder if god will ever answer. I believe he will because it is his promise and he breaks no promises or covenants he just does often do it in our timing but his. One thing Dorothy please please continue to pray for strength and peace that is beyond understanding. It is in peace that you will make firm sound decisions. It is in peace that you will find strength….you need all your strength. Focus on your health while you wait for gods answers, you need your health. Without it you have nothing, and you will not be able to enjoy the answer to your prayer when you get it. Focus on what you need god to give you while you wait. Try these links ok, listen God bless you. If no one else can we can pray for each other lets do that lets hold each other up in faith here are some links listen you need it

  4. I am glad I found this site I need some help to stay in faith, as it has been tested repeatedly over the last four years. I am going through a divorce. It was a much needed end to a not so good situation, I wanted to resolve this situation outside of the courts and was not successful. I have been in the court process now for 4 years this coming this March. My ex husband has a very sneaky and unscrouplous lawyer. At one point I could not afford a lawyer and had to repersent myself. I have had 2 lawyers and because of what happened with them, they both walked a way because of the way my exhusbands lawyer was handling the file, refusing to be fair and just dragging things on, and doing unethical things while still staying somehow within the law. When I became self repersented ( I ended up having to pay cost to my ex when I tried to file a motion for support) I decieded to hire yet a third lawyer. He is so much worse it appears than the other two. I am now broke. I am supporting my two children with learning challanges, paying all the debt that my husband left behind and all through this I have been praying and believing. Even when terrible things would happen that just made no concievable sense I would stay steadfast and say. Something good will come of this, God be for me who could be against me. Recently in an effort to reslove things I have offered to settle, by pardoning my ex of a lot of debt and just asking for support going forward. The offer expired December 31st 2017 the offer was proposed on December 20th. To date I have not heard anything also, my lawyer went on vacation and did not inform me, so if he even recieved a response by fax from the opposing counsel who would know. Now it appears that these two lawyers are actually working together to help each other out. This new lawyer took 17K from in less than 12 weeks and has done nothing to really help me. I have been praying my prayer warriors who are my aunt and mother have been praying people at church have been praying and believing. Now I feel my faith is wavering, I feel weak in spirit. I want to move on with my life, my husband is settled in a new relationship and I am happy for him. I asked that God forgives him and his lawyer and bless them, I try to rejoice in faith, but I feel really broken now!!!! A part of me deep down inside says God has answered your prayer hold on just a little while, your going to get more than you expect. A part of me says I have not forgotten you, I will give you riches beyond measure, but I wake at night feeling anxiety, I cannot do anything around my home as I feel down. I see friendships slipping because this has consumed my life and finances for 4 years. Please help me renew my strength. I am reaching out because I am feeling faithless and like I am failing god right now, which makes me feel scared and alone. I feel that I truly have is God at this point, but I am affraid as I was really believing for the answer to prayer and I know it could be still be possible but I would be lying if I did not say I am struggling. sorry to have posted this twice I did not notice the request to recieve a follow up so I had to resubmit sorry about that

  5. Im really blessed… and really believe the power of faith and prayer…i posted here last time that hoping I can passed the exam ….and hoping again to pass my interview one last step to be hired… i still pray and faith in GOD…I’ll let you know what powerful prayers I used… Tom is my interview and i hope I can make it in GOD’S WILL…

    1. Dawn,

I am remembering you in prayer tonight as I read about your job opportunity. Please remember these four words, “Thy Will Be Done”. We all have issues in life. We are all equal. We just have different issues. Remember most importantly that you want God’s will for your life. I am praying for you that if not this job, another opportunity for one that will be even better for you, will come along. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Please email me at donnafrain2@gmail.com and let me know how your prayers are answered. If anyone needs prayer, please feel free to email me.

  6. I really do need lots of encouragement, after more than a years of being jobless. I got called for an interview with a company. I couldn’t even answer any of the questions correctly despite the fact that I read and prepared myself for the interview. I even prayed and asked God that I should only be asked questions that I could answer well but the reverse was the case during the interview.
It was as though God ignored me, am really losing my faith, I just can’t cope anymore. Though the result for the interview is not yet out but its just too hard to hope.

    1. Michelle, if this doesnt come through for you, its quite possible that this wasnt the right job for you. God will provide something much better for you! Please dont be discouraged, God really is the God of the impossible, he sees you, he knows you, and he loves you. He parted the Red Sea for Moses and the Isreali people, and made a way of escape when there didnt appear to be any hope, and he’ll make a way of escape for you too. Think of Daniel in the lions den, Joseph thrown into prison, David when he was pursued by Saul. God rescued all of them, and gave them places of honor. In Psalms it says that promotion doesnt come from the east or west, but that its God who decides to raise someone up, not man. Dont worry about your interviews. God will raise you up and place you in a position of honor, just trust and thank him for it in faith.

    2. Michelle,

It is possible that the job you are interested in is not the job that you are qualified for. For instance, I want to be a church secretary, but I know that I am not able to do that at the moment. Maybe someday. What jobs have you had in the past that you already have experience in? Maybe apply in a position that you can get right away so that you at least have gainful employment, then keep your eyes open for other opportunities. “I can do all things through God who strengthens me.” – Phil. 4:13
