God’s Sovereignty And Man’s Free Will

An over emphasis on God’s sovereignty can make one spiritually passive. An over emphasis on man’s freedom and authority can make one arrogant and self-righteous. Let’s be neither. Let us stay in the middle, believing that God is sovereign, that His word is infallible, and that we are to obey Him – simple and childlike. Everything comes from Him. He is God, and we are not. Still, we were created in His image, and we do have the Holy Spirit living within us. Exactly how this all fits together is a mystery, one in which we will undoubtedly be learning about for eternity. The more we exercise our free will in obedience to God’s stated will, the more He will act sovereignly on our behalf.
