The way to be saved is to come to Christ. Christ is a person, a living person, full of power to save. He has not placed his salvation in sacraments, or books, or priests, but he has kept it in himself; and if you want to have it you must come to him. He is still the one source and fountain of eternal mercy. There is no getting it by going round about him, or only going near to him: you must come to him, actually to him, and there must be a personal contact established between the Lord Jesus and your spirit. Of course it cannot be a natural contact, for his body is in the heavens and we are here; but it must be a spiritual contact, by which your mind, heart, thought, shall come to Christ, and faith, like a hand, shall touch him spiritually, grasp him by believing upon him, and receive life and grace from his divine power.
Just as when the woman of old touched his garment’s hem, the virtue went out of him to her, and she was healed; so now, though he be yonder, faith’s long hand can touch his divine and human person, by confiding, trusting, and resting in him, and so virtue will flow from him into our soul, (body), and our mind shall be healed of whatsoever disease it hath.

thanks for the information. I’ve recently had a situation where a pastor was preaching that there is no prayer that saves you, no ABCs where you become saved. Romans 10:9-10 seems to differ from that. The pastor seems to be saying there’s no power in a ritualistic prayer that saves but held fast to saying no prayer is necessary when i talked to him in his office later. But it seems to be evident that communication (prayer) with God is necessary to ‘come to Him’ and be saved.
Hello, I would like to reply to the person who heard a Pastor preach that no prayer can save you. Although I did not hear this man preach and therefore do not know what else he may have said, my reply can only focus on what you heard him say and also what you heard him say later in his office. So, taking just that into consideration, that no prayer can save, at face value the Pastor is correct. The only requirement, Biblically, for a person to be saved and forgiven of all sins is to “believe” or as a synonym, to have faith in… God knows your heart. And your heart, besides the organ inside your chest, your heart is your entire inner being. Your mind, your intellect, your emotions and your will. When someone hears the gospel that Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and was resurrected from the dead to pay the penalty of your sins, and you truly believe that to be true completely than you are saved. Believe in or have faith in simply means to trust. The object of your trust is Jesus Christ. The moment you do this, trust in Jesus Christ for your forgiveness, then God knows that and you are saved at that very moment. He needs no prayer whatsoever before He can save you. Is a prayer wrong? No. But if you were to think that a prayer by you is necessary for you to be saved, then guess what, your prayer then becomes a “work” added to the gospel. And any human work added to the gospel makes the gospel to be no gospel. (Galatians 1). Look at Ephesians 2:8-9 “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith, not through works, it is a gift of God, NOT through works so no man can boast.” Finally, just one scripture to point out although there are many many more. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever “believes in” Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” “believes in” or “have faith in” has in those words the clear idea of “TRUST.” Prayer can help you believe but prayer as a requirement is a work and that is a no no for salvation. I truly hope this helps.
Consider Acts 2: 37, 38 , 39. It is the salvation message. It is the beginning of the church. God bless you.
