my_head_dark_space_300-webSTOP, DON’T DO IT! Take hope! You have options that you cannot see right now! It is not that you do not have options, it is just that you cannot see them. Evil forces can cloud our minds from seeing the hope that is there. You have an opportunity of a better day. It is real and it is out there. It is coming. Let God open your eyes to it and let Him do it for you. Give Him a chance to give you a chance. We love you and He loves you.

You have good options, you just can’t see them now.

Only the word of God can strip away the darkness so that we can see the brightness. You are in the dark simply because you cannot see the light. Hurt and hopelessness work together to block the light. The light is actually all around you. MAKE YOURSELF read the following scriptures, even if you feel absolutely nothing. The deadness will leave. Hope and light will seep into your heart. Do it!

Anyone who is among the living has hope. Ecclesiastes 9:4

Suicidal thoughts only survive within an outlook of complete hopelessness. Hope, true Bible hope, is the best antidote for hopelessness. Take the hope that is resident in the promises of God and put it into your heart. Your outlook will change. God has a wonderful habit of raising individuals out of impossible situations. He enjoys doing it, and it brings Him glory. The Bible is full of stories of people, just like you, that were delivered out of extremely dangerous and potentially embarrassing situations – including His own son, Jesus. You are no different. Reject the guilt and shame, and absorb His love, forgiveness, and hope. You will make it out of this situation! The darkness will not last. That is the real truth, but for it to work, you must see it as truth and believe it. This is where reading, speaking, and meditating God’s promises comes in. They will grow hope and belief in your heart. ALSO, PLEASE READ THIS – Helping Others Is God’s Prescription for Depression.

Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down (depression), but a good word cheers it up. Proverbs 12:25 Holman Christian Standard Bible

Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255
Allow God’s good word to cheer you up. God’s word is the only true source of hope because it shows the will of Him who can help. Allow the hope of a good result to seep back into your heart. Suicide is the extreme dead-end of hopelessness. Allowing thoughts of hopelessness to control your thinking narrows and darkens your path till suicide appears to be the only option, BUT IT IS NOT. There are plenty of other solutions; you just can’t see them now because hopelessness has blinded you to them. The hope that is resident in the promises of God will open the eyes of your heart, and you will be able to see again. It will get brighter.

Suicide only appears like an option when the devil has hidden all your other options. Allow the Bible to open your eyes.

You will have to work at it. You will not feel like it. Do it anyway, your life depends on it, and contrary to what you are feeling, YOUR LIFE IS WORTH IT. Suicide is a permanent solution to an intense but short term problem. Don’t do it!

“Do not be a fool–why die before your time?” Ecclesiastes 7:17b

This may sound harsh but the hard truth is this – the thought to end one’s life is foolish – and once you step back and see it for what it really is, you will understand. Do not despair; it will get better. The power to deliver is resident in His word. Put it to work for you. Relax and make yourself read these scriptures and let God’s word do the rest:

You are my lamp O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light. 2 Samuel 22:29

But you will not need to fight! Take your places; stand quietly and see the incredible rescue operation God will perform for you, Oh people of Judah and Jerusalem! Don’t be afraid or discouraged! Go out there tomorrow, for the Lord is with you! 2 Chronicles 20:17

You have granted me life and favor, and Your care has preserved my spirit. Job 10:12

I will lie down in peace and sleep, for though I am alone, Oh Lord, you will keep me safe. Psalms 4:8

For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield. Psalm 5:12

No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame. Psalm 25:3

You are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Psalm 25:5

You are my hiding place from every storm of life; You even keep me from getting into trouble! You surround me with songs of victory. I will instruct you (says the Lord) and guide you along the best pathway for your life; I will advise you and watch your progress. Don’t be like a senseless horse or mule that has to have a bit in its mouth to keep it in line! Psalms 32:7-9

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all. Psalm 34:18, 19

If the Lord delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumbles, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand. Psalm 37:23, 24

And the ransomed of the Lord will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away. Isaiah 35:10

I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27

We are saved by trusting. And trusting means looking forward to getting something we don’t yet have – for a man who already has something doesn’t need to hope and trust that he will get it. But if we must keep trusting God for something that hasn’t happened yet, it teaches us to wait patiently and confidently. Romans 8:24-25

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15:4

Nevertheless God, that comforts, those that are depressed, comforted us by the coming of Titus; And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more. II Corinthians 7:6-7

I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. Ephesians 1:18-19

There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called–one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 4:4-6

  1. From my brith I always believe in God. I fight many war seems that God is in my side. But now the old situation change. I can not rejist more. And God do not listen my prayer. So there is no hope now. I must suicide. Please pray for me to god.

    1. Biswajit the fact that you’re here talking about it tells me you do not want to.

Do you remember the story of Joseph in the book of Genesis? He was actually promised by God to receive honor but went through MANY years of toil in slavery in prison. Just where are you along that same path?

Do you remember the story of David? Anointed king but chased to the caves by a bloodthirsty tyrant. What cave are you in today?

He doesn’t promise this life will be easy, but He promises to be with us in the midst of it.

One more thing: If you think your prayers aren’t being heard, ask yourself, am I sinning? He says in His word that He will not listen to the wicked. Have you ever taken the Good Person test? Google it, and see how you do. I failed 🙂

  2. Mabel, I guess you’re seeing a pre-written prayer to pray out for Jacob? Your best way is just talking to your heavenly Father like you would a good earthly dad. There’s not much formula for talking to an earthly dad. You show respect and leave the decision-making to him (e.g. we don’t want to order him around.) You appeal instead of demand. How much more our earthly Father?

That’s why Jesus began his model prayer, “Our father.” Go have a look at Jesus’ model prayer for elements to bring into your own prayer for Jacob then lift him up before the throne of grace and plead with Him to show Jacob His glory, glory which transforms. Pray the Scriptures, too. Those always enrich my prayers with joy and authority.

    I’m lifting up Jacob.

  3. Please pray for Jacob suffering from severe depression after death of pet thanks what prayer should I say I read the scriptures on depression for him.thanks.

  4. Trish (((hugs))). I’ve been there so many times. You do have someone. You have me. And Faith Mechanic. And God. You can’t feel Him but He is there. He is closer to you now than times when you feel His presence. He wouldn’t abandon you. He promised. And He keeps His promises.

These feelings are painful and traumatic. You need to be kind to yourself. Go for a walk alone. Find a quiet place to sit and talk to Him. Know that these thoughts will pass but you need to take care of yourself. Take care of yourself the way you take care off your kids. Give yourself good food. Say kind things to yourself. Put yourself to bed early. Read a funny book. (Buy Lunatics by Dave Barry-or get it from library. It’s laugh out loud funny and an easy read). Nurture yourself. Take a bubble bath after the kids are in bed.

When things are too hard, stop and pray for courage and strength. God always answered our prayers.

Love to you. Praying for you.

  5. Hi Trish! Glad you talked to someone about your unwanted thoughts, even if online/anonymously. Being a parent myself I understand the concern of sharing your issues then coming under threat of having your children taken away. I’ve faced that concern more than once. I even battled with an issue all alone for 13 years then finally decided to tell a brother in Christ. What a relief that was! I’m not alone. I’m praying you find that one person you can trust with your life, and talk to them so you’re not going through this alone.

Yours sounds like it may be a rare case of demonic oppression. (Not possession but oppression.) In the Bible, it’s clear that the majority of our issues come from our own sin. Most of the time the call is to repent. But on a few rare occasions the right thing to do is tell those demons to go away in the name of Jesus. I’ve from time-to-time battled the same unwanted thoughts tempting me to suicide. When they come I know what to do. I just say out loud, “Demon, in the name of Jesus, be gone.” That’s all. No holy water, no jumping around and screaming, no weirdness. Just tell it in the name of Jesus to be gone.

And bam, the suicidal thought is gone. Then I keep away the wrong thoughts through frequent meditation upon God’s Word. Jesus said the demon was driven out of the person, but when he came back he found the man empty, swept, and put in order, so he went and found seven other demons. So fill your head with Bible. Listen to it, play it, memorize it, put it on your walls, put it on your mirror in the morning, have it on your mind day and night. I’m terrible at memorizing anything, so I got some Scripture memory music and BOY does that work good. You know how it is that you can still remember music from high school? Because music assists in memorization. There’s some free ones out there so Google it and see.

Lifting you up. May you find a confidant to speak with, may you meditate on God’s Word day and night, and may you no longer be tormented by the evil one.

  6. I’m Trish, a believer, a mother and I’m tired, I have been battling many, many unwanted thoughts for a while now and I fight so hard because I want to live, but I’m tired of fighting! When will Satan leave? I feel like I can’t talk to anyone around me with the fear of being judged and no one really able to help me with my thoughts, I know God but I no longer feel his presence in my heart. I know he’s here, I know he’s answering my prayers, I just want to feel the joy again. I say that it could be post partom depression but I don’t want to be medicated and I don’t want my child taken from me, please someone help me find happiness again. And remove these thoughts from my life!

  7. I am 11 and I live in a relationship with God but I have considered suicide many times but each time being stopped by a lack of materials (rope, knife ect) How do I get rid of these thoughts of suicide?

    1. Author

Matt – We love you and are praying for you. I want you to realize that the times when you ‘considered’ suicide, the thoughts were from the Devil. He is a liar and a destroyer. Please don’t let him lie to you and destroy you. You have great pain in your life. I hear it and I feel it. Don’t let the Devil use that pain to hurt you further. Suicide is not the answer that he is telling you it is.

There are other good solutions. You just can’t seen them now. The Devil is blinding you to them. There is hope for a happy life. You just can’t see it because again the Devil is hiding it from you. Maybe you are thinking that nobody cares. That is a lie. God cares. I care. There are plenty of others who care and love you. You can’t see and feel that too, but we are all real and we love you.

If you need to talk to someone, give me a call. I would love to talk to you, or you can talk to a wonderful counselor in our church. I sent an email with my numbers.

Again Matt, the suicide thoughts are from the Devil. Read these two articles – You Cannot ‘Out Think’ the Devil But You Can ‘Out Speak’ Him, and Depression Is a Spirit – It Must Be Fought with the Word of God. God’s word is able to free you and help you. It is also able to make you happy on the inside – for real, no fake stuff. We do love you. Call us or someone please. God really is big enough.

  8. Hey everyone!

I wanted to let you know that I’m still here and kicking!

Your comments and posts were a blessing to me.

I’m still in pain and I still have doubts, but I’m not in crisis like before.

Thank you so much for taking the time to type those words. They ment more than you know.

    1. Author

Dj – We are so so glad. We love you. Keep meditating on the scriptures. They will change you and change what you can see. The more hope you can see the more hope you can have. We love you. rex

  9. I ventured here from the hopelessness and depression topics. Although I don’t believe I would ever take my life, it goes through my mind at times and offers me moments of comfort as an option. Many bouts of depression in my life. The one now is one of the most painful. My son’s wife is leaving him, and for some reason, I can’t wrap my brain around it. Especially difficult when I look at their precious 18-month old son. I believe that some losses are as devastating if not more so than death.

  10. Hold it there! Never take your own life. Life is worth living for sure as the Lord has promised us that He gives not only life but life in abundant. A depressed condition is temporary. The bout will get over with medication and treatment like ECT and you’ld praise the Lord for you had been holding on the ‘devilush’ suicidal attempt. If there isn’t anything for you to live on, you could at least live as the salt and light of the Lord in this world and do good to others to glorify His name! There’s HOPE only when you’re ALIVE & SHINE!

  11. Therese,

Please stop and think. God wouldn’t ask you to break one of the ten commandments. I know you’re in pain. I also know that He has compassion for you. He has so much love for you. He didn’t bring pain and suffering into the world. It’s not His will that you live in pain. However, if you are still alive it’s because He isn’t done with you yet. You have something left to give- and it isn’t a broken heart for your loving husband.

You have no right to inflict that kind of pain on him. You have no right to do that. Would you tell him in advance what you were planning? How do you think he’ll react? If you can’t tell him, face to face, you can’t be a coward and go behind his back and inflict such horrific pain on him.

He wouldn’t be “comfortable”. He’d be filled with sorrow, grief, emotional distress and pain- not to mention constant regret that he wasn’t able to prevent it.

I know it sounds harsh and it IS harsh. You have no right to do it. And God has not given you permission.

Talk to a priest. The devil is the one whispering in your ear.

  12. I have been praying and praying and I think God is OK with me wanting to kill myself. I have emptied my soul of any longings but for God. I have no regrets about the past and no regrets about any future that might be out there. I only see and want to be with God.

I am 59 , bedridden with Late Stage Lyme Disease and suffer 24 hours a day. My husband is an angel of a caregiver but I want him to have happiness, which he can’t have while I am here. I have no hope for a cure and no hope to be relieved of the pain. I could live like this for another 20 years. All insurance companies refuse to give long term treatment for Late Stage Lyme Disease therefore all our medical expenses are put of pocket. If I kill myself now, my husband will have enough left to comfortably live out his life.

I have asked for God’s compassion and love. I have asked the Virgin Mary to forgive me and take me in her arms like a babe. I pray almost day on this and am sure God is telling me it’s ok. I believe God can send you a message that’s it’s ok to leave.

    1. Author

Theresal58- I agree, it isn’t God talking to you. It is the Devil. I only get a small glimpse of your pain and discomfort but killing oneself is not the answer. It is not the answer for your husband either.

First – make sure you are saved, read – Born Again and Salvation and pray the prayer out loud from your heart.

Afterward, get your wonderful husband to read the Gospels to you. All four, all the way through, then do it again. Get as much of God inside of you as you can. No offense, don’t talk to Mary; talk to Jesus. He has your answer. We love you and are praying for you. Rex

  13. Thinking of you precious dj. Please let us know your okay, Praise Jesus the one and only True King forever and ever

  14. Beloved Macie, God alone is your Rock and He is an All Mighty and jealous God. He is worthy of all the praise, for” He loves the wicked and the righteous, He rains on the just and unjust. ” God is allowing this so you will turn to Him alone as your hope and strength. I am certain of this. As a sister in Christ whom carries genuine love for you, I would rather help you with the Truth, than hinder you with sweet words. As you have come looking for God at this site, so continue in your longing and search. He says “search for Me with all your heart and there you will find Me. ” on faith, glorify Jesus with your lips, grumble no longer, for this is displeasing to God. I assure you you are capable of loving God more than this man, I ask you to declare this decision as I have done myself and this is when I saved my own marriage! And my husband! Which everyone said was “unsaveable”. It all started with this beautiful turning point of utter hopelessness where you are now and making a decision to pick up my bible and search for my Master by faith alone and there I found my true Savior and the bond that I had always longed for. And realized He was there the whole time. Now I live in peace and the devil has no hold over me any longer. Jesus and the Holy inerrant Word of God has set me free! My heart is delighted in the Lord my Savior and I will never turn back. It all started with picking up my bible and breaking the stronghold. And the faithful Lord as He has promised has set me free. Praise Honor and glory be to Him forever and ever! Love in Christ sister, Lindsay

I agree with Christopher de Vidal – We can, and must, overcome in Jesus Name. A little bit of lust will not keep us from more lust. One aspect of sin is ‘transgression.’ Transgression is the going over a boundary, or crossing a line. It is doing what you are not supposed to do and being where you are not supposed to be. The strength of it is the continual crossing of a line – always going further. Rebellion always pushes boundaries. This is the terrible aspect of sin, the current sin level is never enough. It always wants more. You can’t negotiate with sin and the Devil. You can only break its power in Jesus Name, be cleansed by the blood of Jesus, and go on.

The more you give in the stronger it gets. The more you victoriously resist the weaker it gets. You control the door to your life and heart. Don’t let evil and disobedience in. A little bit goes a long way. Pornography is not so much about sex as it is about false strength, anger, and control. It makes a man feel like he is a tough controlling man, but in reality it emasculates him and makes him weaker and weaker. The false intensity of it will hinder a true real sex life. It is a silent killer of manhood and spirituality.

Believe God for the grace of God to help you. Confess the word of God. Try to praise God as much as you can when you are tempted. You cannot think of something but you can think about something else. That is one reason why AA wants them to call someone immediately when they are tempted to drink. Get someone to help talk you back from the ledge. To be louder than the voice of lust and destruction.

And don’t let the guilt of a failure hold you back from receiving God’s grace and moving on. Do it every time, a thousand and one times. Don’t give up in God’s grace, mercy, and forgiveness. We love you. Rex

  16. LonelyMan, I want to slightly disagree with Sandra M.’s well-meaning advice. Pornography, and even having lustful thoughts for others, IS conquerable. Jesus did it. Remember: He was fully man. I did it, by the same Spirit that lives within Jesus. Many others have. There can be victory.

God knows sexual urges do not go away if you suppress or ignore them; rather, they are a blessing. That’s why He gave us husbands and wives. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love. Prov 5:19

And God knows we will have difficulty with the immensely high standards of His Law. As a solution, He didn’t give us pornography; that’s man’s answer. He gave us Jesus. So you’ve blown it for the 8,479th time. What does that prove? That He is an UNLIMITED fountain of forgiveness.

Satan speaks in generalities: “You’re such a failure.” The Spirit speaks in specifics: “Five minutes ago, when you looked at that woman and thought about her sexually: Go quickly put that under the blood and walk with me again.” You blow it again tonight? I want you to immediately place it under the blood once again, and continue to walk with Jesus. Fail again tomorrow night? Place it under the blood. The next night? Place it under the blood. Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! Yet grace abounds to overflowing for those who fall into sin again and again. Grace abounds!!

I echo Sandra M.’s advice: Give your whole self to Christ, even your faults too. He will work His transformation of in His time and at His speed. Do not withhold from God the pleasure of showing mercy to the greatly undeserving like you and me. Do not assume He is weary of seeking forgiveness, for that implies He is weak and limited. Keep going to Him again and again and again. One day, you might find as I do that it does not hold as much attraction as it used to.

  17. If there is anyone out there, please pray for me.

I am a 30-something yr old Christian (or someone who bounces between thinking he is a Christian and not) from NC. I made many mistakes early on in my relationship pre-marriage (basically lying about previous physical relationships and implying I was pure when I wasn’t). Since then, I have lied many more times about other things and my relationship has been completely tarnished by the two that went before it as well as my dishonesty. There is so much ingrained hurt and bitterness and anger, I can never be the husband I should be. I am a mess. I really want God to help, but I just can’t get through to Him. I struggle on the quiet with pornography. My pastor knows this, but no one else. I am a complete mess. Please help me Lord. Help me.

    1. Author

LonelyMan – I will pray for you. God will have mercy on you and change you. Rex

    2. LonelyMan I went from wanting to start my own porn website to no longer even having impure thoughts. I memorized a small verse and quote it the second I begin to experience a temptation. If you don’t have a verse, Matthew 5:8 is a good one. If He redeemed me, He can redeem you.

He gives grace to the humble. O how I love the joy of experiencing Jesus when I take the sin I fell into for the 8,974th time and wash it under the limitless blood and walk once again with the radiant Savior. Never be afraid to take sin to Him, for in so doing you imply He either has limits to His grace and mercy, or is stingy with it. He is slowwwwwwwwwwww to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The inexhaustible supply of kindness of our Lord and Savior!!

His glory is magnified through big sinners like us. The bigger the sinner, the greater His love appears. Had you only sinned 3 times it would be enough for hell, and it would be scandalous that Jesus died for you. But wow our God looks so more spectacular when He loves the one who’d blown it for the 8,974th time! Shall we sin that grace may abound? May it not be so. But think “God-centered” forgiveness and you’ll never grow reluctant of taking your sins to Him.

      Isn’t that “gospel”? (Good news?)

  18. My marriage is failing my husband wants to leave me for another woman wants to leave me and my children alone I am currently expecting another child I know not what to do I want to end my life everything feels so upside down I don’t know what to do I no longer feel a need to be here without my husband he is my rock he is my everything. I want to end my life tonight something told me look for prayers for suicidal thoughts it brought me here I need God to restore my marriage and to come into my husbands heart please help us

    1. Macie take hope. The verse that gets me through dark trials is Isaiah 43:2: ” When you pass through the waters, I [the God of the universe] will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” (Isaiah 43:2 ESV)

I have quoted myself that one again and again. May the God of all hope sanctify you completely.

      Lifting you up,
      Christopher de Vidal

  19. I wrote my suicide note tonight. It was four pages long. I wasn’t quite ready to do it, but I spelled out my reasons for when it was time.

I did one last ditch effort. I googled, “Prayers for when you are suicidal.” This was the first link.

I have at least one more day now. I will keep doing that, hopefully. Taking one more day. Hopefully God will take away this weight; this pain. Hopefully God will make me feel worth.

I am on antidepressants. I have a support system. I need prayer. I need hope. I need God. The problem is not external. It is not something that I or anyone else can solve. It has to come from inside and above.

Please, pray for me. Call on God to heal me. I will read these scriptures again at least one more day. It is giving me another day.

DJ – We love you and we are praying for you. Yes, it all comes from the inside – first the pain and the darkness, then the release and the light. The darkness cannot fight the light, just like any darkness immediately goes away when light appears, but you must let the light in.

Even if you don’t like it, or thing that it is doing anything READ THE SCRIPTURES AND STORIES. Hope will seep into your heart. There is hope all around you but the darkness won’t let you see it. Then, it lies to you and tells you that the only answer is more darkness and death.

Pray the following prayer, loud enough so that you can hear it:

“Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that you are God, and I am not. I am tired of being my own god, please forgive me. I have been disobedient and I am now sorry for my sins. I believe that Jesus Christ died for me and paid for my evil deeds. Come now into my heart, live inside of me, and be my personal Lord and Savior. I turn away from evil and I choose your will and your life.

I believe with my heart and I say with my mouth that you, Jesus Christ, are now my Lord and my Savior. I believe you died on the cross for me, and when you were raised again, I was raised with you. I totally commit myself to obeying you everyday, for the rest of my life. Fill me with your Spirit and your power. In Jesus name, it is done! Thank you Jesus.”

  20. Frank-please respond so we know you’re okay. I’m praying things are better for you

  21. Dear Frank

It is NOT God’s will that you feel so miserable and depressed. God doesn’t want you to feel defeated and alone. If you’re still breathing, you still have work to do in this life. You may need anti-depressants (they do help) and to talk to a therapist to help work through all the things that are hurting you. You can find a Christian therapist (this helped me a lot after my child died).

It took me years to dig my way out of a dark depression. I still have ups and downs but I’m doing better.

A priest once said to me “Just because you have a suicidal thought doesn’t mean you have to entertain it. You can say ‘I choose NOT to entertain this thought. It’s not from God.”. The devil would love to see you fail. To commit suicide is to lose hope in God’s love and mercy. You don’t want that.

You’re close to God. He loves you. Truly He does. He wants you to be happy.

Sometimes, you have to search for that happiness and embrace it wherever you find it.

Spend time in the sun-it will help your mood. Stay away from music, tv shows, movies, or friends who will bring you down. Open the bible and read the whole page. God will speak to you there.

When depression and anxiety attacks you, cast that devil aside. He has no power over you. Christ died so that you could be free of those demons. So, cast them out. Sprinkle blessed salt in doorways and windows. Have your house blessed.

I’m praying for you, Frank. You’re going to make it. You are. (((hugs)))
