my_head_dark_space_300-webSTOP, DON’T DO IT! Take hope! You have options that you cannot see right now! It is not that you do not have options, it is just that you cannot see them. Evil forces can cloud our minds from seeing the hope that is there. You have an opportunity of a better day. It is real and it is out there. It is coming. Let God open your eyes to it and let Him do it for you. Give Him a chance to give you a chance. We love you and He loves you.

You have good options, you just can’t see them now.

Only the word of God can strip away the darkness so that we can see the brightness. You are in the dark simply because you cannot see the light. Hurt and hopelessness work together to block the light. The light is actually all around you. MAKE YOURSELF read the following scriptures, even if you feel absolutely nothing. The deadness will leave. Hope and light will seep into your heart. Do it!

Anyone who is among the living has hope. Ecclesiastes 9:4

Suicidal thoughts only survive within an outlook of complete hopelessness. Hope, true Bible hope, is the best antidote for hopelessness. Take the hope that is resident in the promises of God and put it into your heart. Your outlook will change. God has a wonderful habit of raising individuals out of impossible situations. He enjoys doing it, and it brings Him glory. The Bible is full of stories of people, just like you, that were delivered out of extremely dangerous and potentially embarrassing situations – including His own son, Jesus. You are no different. Reject the guilt and shame, and absorb His love, forgiveness, and hope. You will make it out of this situation! The darkness will not last. That is the real truth, but for it to work, you must see it as truth and believe it. This is where reading, speaking, and meditating God’s promises comes in. They will grow hope and belief in your heart. ALSO, PLEASE READ THIS – Helping Others Is God’s Prescription for Depression.

Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down (depression), but a good word cheers it up. Proverbs 12:25 Holman Christian Standard Bible

Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255
Allow God’s good word to cheer you up. God’s word is the only true source of hope because it shows the will of Him who can help. Allow the hope of a good result to seep back into your heart. Suicide is the extreme dead-end of hopelessness. Allowing thoughts of hopelessness to control your thinking narrows and darkens your path till suicide appears to be the only option, BUT IT IS NOT. There are plenty of other solutions; you just can’t see them now because hopelessness has blinded you to them. The hope that is resident in the promises of God will open the eyes of your heart, and you will be able to see again. It will get brighter.

Suicide only appears like an option when the devil has hidden all your other options. Allow the Bible to open your eyes.

You will have to work at it. You will not feel like it. Do it anyway, your life depends on it, and contrary to what you are feeling, YOUR LIFE IS WORTH IT. Suicide is a permanent solution to an intense but short term problem. Don’t do it!

“Do not be a fool–why die before your time?” Ecclesiastes 7:17b

This may sound harsh but the hard truth is this – the thought to end one’s life is foolish – and once you step back and see it for what it really is, you will understand. Do not despair; it will get better. The power to deliver is resident in His word. Put it to work for you. Relax and make yourself read these scriptures and let God’s word do the rest:

You are my lamp O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light. 2 Samuel 22:29

But you will not need to fight! Take your places; stand quietly and see the incredible rescue operation God will perform for you, Oh people of Judah and Jerusalem! Don’t be afraid or discouraged! Go out there tomorrow, for the Lord is with you! 2 Chronicles 20:17

You have granted me life and favor, and Your care has preserved my spirit. Job 10:12

I will lie down in peace and sleep, for though I am alone, Oh Lord, you will keep me safe. Psalms 4:8

For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield. Psalm 5:12

No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame. Psalm 25:3

You are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Psalm 25:5

You are my hiding place from every storm of life; You even keep me from getting into trouble! You surround me with songs of victory. I will instruct you (says the Lord) and guide you along the best pathway for your life; I will advise you and watch your progress. Don’t be like a senseless horse or mule that has to have a bit in its mouth to keep it in line! Psalms 32:7-9

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all. Psalm 34:18, 19

If the Lord delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumbles, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand. Psalm 37:23, 24

And the ransomed of the Lord will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away. Isaiah 35:10

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

No, I will not abandon you or leave you as orphans in the storm – I will come to you. John 14:18

I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27

We are saved by trusting. And trusting means looking forward to getting something we don’t yet have – for a man who already has something doesn’t need to hope and trust that he will get it. But if we must keep trusting God for something that hasn’t happened yet, it teaches us to wait patiently and confidently. Romans 8:24-25

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15:4

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. 2 Corinthians 3:12

Nevertheless God, that comforts, those that are depressed, comforted us by the coming of Titus; And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more. II Corinthians 7:6-7

I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. Ephesians 1:18-19

There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called–one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 4:4-6

  1. T.M. Jesus is as close to you as your next breath,he loves you dearly. Will continue to pray for you and for all on this site.May The Lord bless you so you can be a blessing unto others.

  2. Tina Marie great to hear that. Do you have some godly people in your life to lean upon, to go to?

    1. Yes, I believe I do, although one, God Bless her, puts a lot of pressure to be part of HER church. I believe that if I am in God’s house and being Baptised -does the address matter? Any thoughts?
Also, I missed FaithMechanic when giving my thanks sorry. I truly would have NEVER made it through but God is good always and IN ALL WAYS, God is good. Thanks, keep the good fight…You are also doing the Angels work.

  3. This is TM, which is short for Tina Marie… I wanted to thank you SlowBro and Mabel, and anyone else who prayed for me. I believe that I am through the worst. I mean being so close to the edge of that chasm. I also believe that I want to show God my gratitude and am thinking of baptism, AGAIN (I was as a baby, but really, how could showing glory be a BAD thing?).
    Thanks again and thank God.

  4. To all who read this site I pray for you daily.hope you feel the peace I do.Jesus is real,he is true, darkness flees for the name of Jesus, call out to him and he will answer you,he awaits your return.say In the name of Jesus spirit of depression.darkness, suicide leave me now never to return lord Jesus fill me with your peace and joy.

  5. I thank you for your time and caring enough to even reply…especially since my own people don’t think it is needed- out of sight, out of mind. And if there wasn’t a health and care issue added on top, I don’t think that I would be here, but that’s it. No more pain, I am sincerely trying to hang on, thanks again.

  6. TM I think if you could ask your parents in heaven about this right now I am convinced they would say DON’T DO IT! Living for Jesus is worth it. Don’t give up until He takes you home. Glorify Him with all of your heart and soul and mind and strength. He promises to be with you as you walk on this road. Praying for you.

    1. Thank you SlowBro, my Dad WAS very strong and even though he died painfully,he never lost his faith. My Mom, loved him so much, she followed about 18 months later. I try every day to find a reason and have been for 3 years. Seems like 30. But, now, I have SO much pain(ALL kinds), I’m just so tired. But I will keep trying. I thank you all, as I thank God I found you. At least you can say, you helped me today.

  7. I came here sincerely hoping to find a reason NOT to, the one I had stopped working. It’s not that I don’t have faith, I am exhausted and alone and the fight is draining out of me. I JUST want to see my Parents again.

    1. Author

TM – The reason – you can have a great life if you let God’s word change your world. The reason you are exhausted, alone, drained, and without hope is that the lies of the devil have blinded you to the hope that is all around you. I know that it sounds like a lie to say that there is hope all around you but it is the truth. The devil works hard to cut us off from the truth. He gets us alone, and then lies some more for the kill. It is like those African scenes where the lion gets the single member or the herd off alone, and then the other lions circle him and attack. You are cut off, circled, and now being attacked from all sides.

You will not feel or believe what I am about to say but it is true. There is happiness and there is hope for you. It is just that you are totally blind to it right now. It is like you have glasses on that block out anything that has to do with happiness and hope. I know, I know. This will sound crazy – but do it – try not to think or feel. Try to turn your mind and emotions off. Then get these scriptures, and others from other pages, and speak them to yourself and out loud. IT WILL FEEL AS DRY AS DIRT BUT DO IT. The word is bypassing your mind and emotions, and it is changing things inside of you. Please do it. Please keep doing it.

I hear you on seeing your parents. I do. You will but not now, not this way. I will send an email to you. We love you. I am praying for you. Rex

  8. Praying for Chris and for you too.stay close to The Lord and he will fight your battles you will come out ahead

  9. Slobodan thank you for your response. I am trying. On another note my friend at work Chris did not come into work today. Please pray for him as he is in a dark place.

  10. terry, this verse from the article came to mind when I read your comment: “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.” Psalm 34:18, 19

    1. terry, sorry I clicked send before I could complete my thought. This broken marriage is not the end. Jesus is there. He walks with us through pain better than any husband or wife ever could. Cling to Him in your dark hour. And know that soon, all wrongs will be made right. These facts have kept me going in the midst of a difficult marriage and a difficult boss and ongoing chronic illness. By the world’s standards I should have given up long ago, but He has faithfully kept me plodding along. Cling to Him.

  11. Mabel that was beautiful. I found this site because a coworker of mine is severely depressed and mentioned checking out. Please pray for him his name is Chris. I have my own issue as well; after two and a half years of marriage, my husband does not want to be married because he is married to narcotics anonymous and has no time he says to be a husband. We took vows and I am suffering with anger, anxiety, and sadness. This us his second marriage and his first ended in the same time frame. I just need some help to get through this

  12. Martin S. if you want, you can talk to me. SlowBro904 (AT) Gmail.

  13. God is ALWAYS at work, but not in ways we always expect, and often not in ways we want in the moment. When we’ve been there ten thousand years bright shining as the sun, we’ll start to have seen the front of the great tapestry He’s been weaving through our pain. But until then we usually only see the back side of the tapestry; when you look at the backside of a tapestry it’s a jumble of threads and odd colors. One must flip it around to see the beauty of balanced colors and handiwork. We sometimes get glimpses of the handiwork here; but it’ll take heaven’s perspective to really take in the master work.

Praying for Adam. He did the right thing in shouting at Christians here. God is at work.

  14. Adam,
I have been in your situation many times before. I can empathize. Praying is the only thing that helps. Sometimes all I can say is “God, please stop. I’m not strong enough for this.” Sometimes I can say more.
But sometimes all I can do is beg God to stop. To let me breath a little before the next wave of suffering hits.

Sometimes all I can do is let others pray for me be cause I feel so depressed and suicical I can’t do it myself. Then are actually some days when I can pray on my own and pray for others. I will pray for you.

  15. Stare at yourself in a mirror. I want to die. Being tormented by bed bugs and itching and you can’t sleep. I want to die. Loose your standing in your community and jobless. I want to die. Shitty circumstances will cause lack of hope and I want to die. Resenting others and wanting revenge and vengeance equals murder suicide. God has failed to intervene for me and I have cursed him and will continue to curse him for my suffering. How in the hell is suffering meant for my own good. I fail to understand that and will never understand it. I resent any God that gets off watching people suffer and doing nothing to intervene. Your God is punishing me since I’m such a horrible rotten sinner who has fallen from grace. Since I will never meet his or anybody’s expectations and some big disappointment to Christianity. Even if I ever set foot in a church again I will infect it with bed bugs and all you Christians as well. The church is a infection and a unfaithful reprobate. I resent the failed institution and all institutions who have failed me and are failing the American people.

Adam – I have sent you an email with my phone number on it. Call me I want to talk to you. WE LOVE YOU. Rex

      1. Isn’t it interesting that even though Adam claims he hates the God of the Bible so much — he’s here in a place where Christians have found hope? I think God is at work here, in a way Adam doesn’t quite expect. Praying.

        1. Author

Pray for Adam. He is going to make it. He’s cool. God is going to do it. Rex

      2. Hi FaithMechanic,
I have a very similar experience as does Adam. I dunno where else to turn to. People at church don’t seem to understand me and Christian chat rooms just spam a buncha scriptures at me.
Can I talk to you guys? Is there a way you can email me with a phone number to call?
        Thank you.

    1. Y, it is so good to see you care for another person. That is Christ at work in you.

      1.) Pray for them
2.) If possible, be there for them
3.) Share one or more Bible promises from this page
4.) Share the gospel with them. Even if they know Jesus, the gospel will encourage them. If they don’t know Jesus they might come to know Him then, and would be given hope and purpose and reason and strength to persevere. I like the presentation at NeedGod.com; VERY effective, very Biblical.
5.) Entrust them to the King of kings who can move even the heart of a king. (Proverbs 21:1)

  16. Please pray for my son Terence (San AntonioTexas) who has suicide thoughts and I am (in Singapore) so far away from him
He did wronged against the law and was in detention for a week and on bailed until his hearing in August 2016. This was the first he was caught for
breaking into a lady’s apartment but didn’t touch her.
He is being offered a job while in detention. Tomorrow he has to show up to present his identifcation and he is anxiety and in fear
that he may not be given a job when he tell the truth. His wife couldn’t take his sins temporarily left him with his 9 years old.
I am trusting the Lord to rescue him and send a god-fearing man to bring him back to God again.
    Thanks for your prayer support

    2. I will pray for you honey. I have your back. It will be okay, trust me please. I promise you it will be alright

  19. Mike, what an amazing story of God’s salvation. You are here because Ephesians tells us He is going to bring glory to His name through you. Embrace that charge, and walk in a manner that is worth of the the calling He’s given to you.

  20. My story is a little different. I tried committing suicide because I thought that I would be killing satan by doing so. I then tried drowning by swimming down in a river sucking in more and more water the deeper I went and then I hit the top of the water. don’t know how I swim to the top when I was swimming down. I came out of the water and found a house that was not there when I went into the water. there are so many question I have but one I don’t have is how I am here, because I know it was god that saved me.

    1. I also thought that I was saving my family and other people by committing suicide so I was probably not in my right mind. The point is I am here so God must have saved me.

  21. To SloWBro,
from: the person with Lyme disease
I try desperately everyday to hear Jesus. I am Catholic. I have a parishioner who visits me once a week to give me Communion. THe parish priest visits me once a month and I confess my soul to him. They are nice people but it doesn’t change how much I want to kill myself.

I have been on every antidepressant made for over twenty years. I have been to countless shrinks. Nothing helps. Just this incessant need to die.

I plead with Jesus and Mary to help me. I beg and cry and pray. I have been doing this for the last 4 years. I can’t take anymore. I am 60 and my life is over. I want desperately to die. I read the bible and look for passages of comfort . I even find passages that confirm my willingness and desire to die.

I pray constantly – rosaries, chaplets, novenas, prayers, silent conversations with Jesus and Mary. I spend 10-15 hours a day in complete silence trying to let the Holy Spirit come to me. Nothing eases the pain. I don’t know what to do anymore. I can’t live like this for too much longer.

I’ve come to believe that Jesus won’t hurt such a tortured soul as me. HE will take pity on me in my suicide and help me to see the light.

    1. “In the name of Jesus the Spirit of depression, suicide, death, grief, Fear, anger, hate, infirmity all tormenting spirits leave me now never to return in Jesus name, only the Holy Spirit remain in me.Lord Jesus fill me with your love, your joy give me the mind of Christ ,delete all negative suicidal thoughts off me.Put a guard against my thoughts and words..Lord Jesus I forgive all who have hurt me.I ask you to clear my blood line, lineage clear down to Adam, maternal and paternal sides.Set me free of this bondage in Jesus name I pray. heal me from head to toe fill me with your Peace in Jesus name I pray.Listen to “Oh the blood of Jesus “Break every chain ” utube ,I will be praying for you, trust Jesus in the name of Jesus every knee must bend.Evil flees for the name of Jesus..Lord Jesus come onto my heart live your life in me let your life shine through me.be my lord and Savior.I will be praying for you daily:,I just heard The Lord say to you.”Be still and know that I am God”I am catholic too will offer the daily mass, healing scriptures for you dear be blessed in the name of the Father,Son and Holy Spirit Amen.

    2. To the person with Lyme disease: The hope here is that you will not just talk to Jesus, but *know* Him personally as I do. In knowing Jesus personally as you would a close friend I have been given much strength to endure. It says in Hebrews about the new covenant that Jesus would institute, “And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.” (8:11 ESV)

Is that true in your life?

Because I know Him like a friend He has walked with me through many trials. “When you pass through the waters, I [the God of the Universe] will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” (Isaiah 43:2 ESV)

Based on what I know of the God of the Bible, Jesus would not say to you, “take your life.” He would say to you, “take up your cross and follow me” until He takes your life from you. There’s a reason you’re in this predicament. Consider the example of Paul in 2 Corinthians 2. He cried out (rightly so) for his thorn in the flesh to be removed. But Jesus told Him, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV) Therefore Paul boasted all the more gladly of his weaknesses, so that the power of Christ would rest upon him.

So many people who know Jesus have suffered under their thorn and taken up their cross, showing off the great majesty of a Savior who would walk with them to give them strength to endure with them to the end. Your life exists for the maximization of the glory of the grace of Jesus! There is the potential that even this very evening you would be so filled with joy from your walk with Jesus that you would shine as a light in the world among this crooked and twisted generation. People would ask, “What is the reason for your hope? Your situation looks hopeless.” And in that moment you’d be prepared to give an answer — it is because of the person and work of Jesus. Won’t you know Him as I do?

There’s a purpose for your life. At the moment, that purpose appears to me to be that you would suffer with Jesus at your side showing the glory of the grace to endure that only comes from knowing Him, that people would wonder and glory in the Savior because of you. And if He wills, He can heal you. But the purpose of your life would not cease. It has always been, and will always be, to make the glory of the grace of Jesus to look as resplendent as it really is.

You must know Him personally to do that. If you’re not 100% certain you know Him personally as you would a friend, please do this: Take five minutes and Google the good person test. Consider carefully what is being presented to you there. This is important. Please do it today.
