my_head_dark_space_300-webSTOP, DON’T DO IT! Take hope! You have options that you cannot see right now! It is not that you do not have options, it is just that you cannot see them. Evil forces can cloud our minds from seeing the hope that is there. You have an opportunity of a better day. It is real and it is out there. It is coming. Let God open your eyes to it and let Him do it for you. Give Him a chance to give you a chance. We love you and He loves you.

You have good options, you just can’t see them now.

Only the word of God can strip away the darkness so that we can see the brightness. You are in the dark simply because you cannot see the light. Hurt and hopelessness work together to block the light. The light is actually all around you. MAKE YOURSELF read the following scriptures, even if you feel absolutely nothing. The deadness will leave. Hope and light will seep into your heart. Do it!

Anyone who is among the living has hope. Ecclesiastes 9:4

Suicidal thoughts only survive within an outlook of complete hopelessness. Hope, true Bible hope, is the best antidote for hopelessness. Take the hope that is resident in the promises of God and put it into your heart. Your outlook will change. God has a wonderful habit of raising individuals out of impossible situations. He enjoys doing it, and it brings Him glory. The Bible is full of stories of people, just like you, that were delivered out of extremely dangerous and potentially embarrassing situations – including His own son, Jesus. You are no different. Reject the guilt and shame, and absorb His love, forgiveness, and hope. You will make it out of this situation! The darkness will not last. That is the real truth, but for it to work, you must see it as truth and believe it. This is where reading, speaking, and meditating God’s promises comes in. They will grow hope and belief in your heart. ALSO, PLEASE READ THIS – Helping Others Is God’s Prescription for Depression.

Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down (depression), but a good word cheers it up. Proverbs 12:25 Holman Christian Standard Bible

Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255
Allow God’s good word to cheer you up. God’s word is the only true source of hope because it shows the will of Him who can help. Allow the hope of a good result to seep back into your heart. Suicide is the extreme dead-end of hopelessness. Allowing thoughts of hopelessness to control your thinking narrows and darkens your path till suicide appears to be the only option, BUT IT IS NOT. There are plenty of other solutions; you just can’t see them now because hopelessness has blinded you to them. The hope that is resident in the promises of God will open the eyes of your heart, and you will be able to see again. It will get brighter.

Suicide only appears like an option when the devil has hidden all your other options. Allow the Bible to open your eyes.

You will have to work at it. You will not feel like it. Do it anyway, your life depends on it, and contrary to what you are feeling, YOUR LIFE IS WORTH IT. Suicide is a permanent solution to an intense but short term problem. Don’t do it!

“Do not be a fool–why die before your time?” Ecclesiastes 7:17b

This may sound harsh but the hard truth is this – the thought to end one’s life is foolish – and once you step back and see it for what it really is, you will understand. Do not despair; it will get better. The power to deliver is resident in His word. Put it to work for you. Relax and make yourself read these scriptures and let God’s word do the rest:

You are my lamp O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light. 2 Samuel 22:29

But you will not need to fight! Take your places; stand quietly and see the incredible rescue operation God will perform for you, Oh people of Judah and Jerusalem! Don’t be afraid or discouraged! Go out there tomorrow, for the Lord is with you! 2 Chronicles 20:17

You have granted me life and favor, and Your care has preserved my spirit. Job 10:12

I will lie down in peace and sleep, for though I am alone, Oh Lord, you will keep me safe. Psalms 4:8

For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield. Psalm 5:12

No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame. Psalm 25:3

You are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Psalm 25:5

You are my hiding place from every storm of life; You even keep me from getting into trouble! You surround me with songs of victory. I will instruct you (says the Lord) and guide you along the best pathway for your life; I will advise you and watch your progress. Don’t be like a senseless horse or mule that has to have a bit in its mouth to keep it in line! Psalms 32:7-9

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all. Psalm 34:18, 19

If the Lord delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumbles, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand. Psalm 37:23, 24

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Psalm 42:5

Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall. Psalm 55:22

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. Psalm 62:5

You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, O God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas. Psalm 65:5

For you have been my hope, O Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth. Psalm 71:5

But as for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more. Psalm 71:14

I have put my hope in your word. Psalm 119:74

The LORD upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. Psalm 145:14

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3

Surely, there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off. Proverbs 23:18

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusts in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength. (Perfect means complete. If I keep my part of the promise by staying steadfastly focused on the Lord Jesus Christ, He will keep His promise to give me His perfect peace. Isaiah 26:3-4 See also Philippians 4:6-7 below)

And the ransomed of the Lord will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away. Isaiah 35:10

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

No, I will not abandon you or leave you as orphans in the storm – I will come to you. John 14:18

I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27

We are saved by trusting. And trusting means looking forward to getting something we don’t yet have – for a man who already has something doesn’t need to hope and trust that he will get it. But if we must keep trusting God for something that hasn’t happened yet, it teaches us to wait patiently and confidently. Romans 8:24-25

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15:4

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. 2 Corinthians 3:12

Nevertheless God, that comforts, those that are depressed, comforted us by the coming of Titus; And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more. II Corinthians 7:6-7

I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. Ephesians 1:18-19

There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called–one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 4:4-6

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

  1. SlowBro you’re really gonna insult me like this and you call yourself a follower of Christ? Smh. Sad, sad in the fact there’s no love even in the body of Christ any longer. Goodness. May God have mercy on your pathetic soul!

    1. Ryan, please forgive me that offense, no insult was meant. If you were offended by my comment, “your life isn’t about you,” it was intended to segue into a discussion about the purpose of life. I can tell that comment was not taken the way I intended it, so please forgive me for that so we can discuss this, OK?

  2. You’re not understanding my situation. For 19 years I’ve endured terrible hardship yet I’m kept fed the crap of, “it’ll get better, God loves you, you’re so worth it, you’re beautiful, you’re unique, you’re special.” Really?! Really?

I’m sorry to say but I’m sick of this crap and people feeding me this bull. Yet humanity points their boney finger in my face telling me I’m expected to live for the sake of those around me and their sanity saying I’m ruin the lives of those around me. They’ve already ruined mine so it won’t matter. God will judge me not them. Screw this life I’m done. Adios humanity it’s been a million laughs.

    1. Ryan please allow me to be a different voice. I can’t promise it’ll get better in this life — there’s no promises of that in the Bible. I won’t even call you unique or beautiful.

Because your life isn’t about you.

Can I ask, what brought you here to read these Bible promises if you’re done?

  3. Thanks for this site. Please pray for my major depression from job loss, and hopeless thinking since then. My wife and 3 kids deserve to have their husband/father around.
    Chris

    1. Chris, may you give God the glory by depending upon Him in your hour of need. His promises are true and will be your broad plain to stand upon.

Have you ever read the biography of George Muller?

  4. I feel worthless and useless and know I am struggling with major depression and severe PTSD. Sadly, my husband thinks I am worthless and does not care about me any longer (as stated by him). Suicide reigns in my head and no amount of anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds have helped. Scripture just makes me feel more alone as trying to find hope to grab onto continually shows me just how alone I am. Please help. My husband has forced me to abandon the two true friends I had who were able to lift my spirit. I don’t know how much more I can handle but my five year old twins deserve a chance at keeping their mother.

    1. Author

AtMyWitsEnd – We are praying for you. I will send you and email tomorrow on how to contact us. Don’t let the devil, and anybody else that helps him, to get you to do something terrible. YOUR TWINS NEED YOU. Don’t let them down. PTSD is terrible but God is big enough.

Do not give up hope. You have no hope because you can’t see the hope that is around you. There is hope and love around you but you can not see it. That is what spiritual trauma, like a PTSD event does. Just know, even if your head and emotions scream otherwise, that hope and love is all around you. We love you. God loves you. Your twins love you. Your husband is worn out, frustrated, confused, and hopeless, but he too loves you.

Read some of the other articles on this site. Say good things to yourself even if you don’t feel it or believe it. It does not matter. We love you. Rex

  5. FaithMechanic, there’s a problem with the notification emails which began a few weeks ago. When I click reply on them, they take me to a page that asks for a username/password that I don’t know. I have to cancel that, load up your website, search for this article, search for the comment. Please have a look at that.

    1. Author

SlowBro – Thank you. I sure will. They stopped for a while and now it is running. Several of the new articles were not issued notifications. Thank you for all you do and say. God bless you. Rex

  6. Thank you for this page I am a mom of two and have a wonderful husband and the enemy is always telling me I’m not too enough that they are better off without me. Tonight I fought those strong feelings but I am so lost in my emotions at times I can not see through them and I struggle to reach out to God at those moments. I know he is my healer and redeemer I just need him so strong in my life please pray for me.

    1. Blind mother, you are correct in identifying your enemy. I hope that you memorize some of these Scriptures (or others!) to have a weapon to jab satan with when he comes. 1 Corinthians 12:14–20 comes to mind.

For the body is not one member but many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired. And if they were all one member, where would the body be? But now there are many members, but one body.

      Lifting you up,
      SlowBro

Blind Mother – We love you and are praying for you. Remember, the Devil is a liar, whatever he says is a lie. He will take a situation and twist it to hurt and confuse you, to separate you from the love of others and the love of God.

Your family desperately needs you, now and in the future. I don’t know what circumstances, people, or things are being used to lie to you, but please, do not listen to them. We break the power of those false evil thoughts and feelings of the devil in Jesus Name. We believe and speak that the ‘eyes of your understanding are enlightened to see the hope and plan of God’s calling for you’ in Jesus Name (Ephesians 1:18).

I don’t know exactly why you go by the name Blind Mother. I assume you may actually be blind. Being blind means nothing, except when there is a spiritual blindness to the goodness, love, and hope that is all around you. We find that in people who feel they are hopeless. They are not, but they have been blinded to hope by the devil. Resist him and resist the lies that would tell you these things. Again, we love you. Your family loves you. God loves you. Accept that even if you do not ‘feel’ it. Don’t let the demons block you from that love. I pray you won’t in Jesus Name! You are desperately needed. Love you. Rex

  7. Please pray for my son who is in a pit of despair. He feels utterly worthless and can’t see the point of living. He has turned away from God and doesn’t believe anyone could love him. He believes the only place to go to is computer games which are part of the problem. He has lost confidence in socialising with people. Please pray he knows the truth, and the truth will set him free -from suicidal thoughts, unbelief and how he sees himself. He is such a beautiful person and loved by so many and by God. Please pray he knows he has hope for the future. THANK YOU X

Everhopeful – We are praying for your son in Jesus Name. Speak the word over him and break the power of the devil over him in Jesus Name. Curse the spiritual blindness that is attacking him. We agree with you in this. Go to the Confessions on this site and pick one. Put his name in it and speak it over him. Do not give up. He will be okay. We love you and God loves you. And more than that, God loves your son. God is faithful. Speak His word! Rex

  8. Hie I don’t even know where to begin but suicidal thoughts are always in my mind I feel distanced , the feeling of hopelessness and uselessness clouds my mind . I really don’t know what to do , I’ve prayed about it many times but I relapse every time .

    1. indigenousgirl I prayed for you when you posted your comment and am praying now. Sorry I did not say so sooner. You are not alone. May you be healed in the name of Jesus.

  10. kunal jowata, wonderful! The devil is a liar and God’s Word gives us promises that help us to push on. Stay in His Word. His sheep hear His voice and they know Him and they follow Him.

  12. I’m 19 and i have been depressed for 2 years. I used to do drugs which probably caused my depression. anyway, I have been praying, i have little faith but nothing seem to change. God has told me to be patient. I feel like i have failed at life. It’s really annoying to have to live with depression. I have suicidal thoughts but i won’t commit suicide because i know there is a hell so my only option is to live with depression and negative thoughts. I’m in school but i don’t have much energy to think clearly. My mind is sick and my soul is grieving. I went to therapy which did not help. I can’t find peace.

    1. Peace be with you my friend. Write down some of these scriptures that speak the opposite of how you feel on index cards, meditate on them. Keep them in your pocket and ask The Holy Spirit of God to reveal their meaning to you in a deeper way. To walk with you. Invite Jesus into your heart to make it new. Reject the bad thoughts of suicide and depression. The bible says, resist the enemy and he will flee from you. It sounds easy and like it doesn’t work, but it will! Keep speaking life over yourself and tell others that you trust and who have your best interest at heart if hey will pray for you also. Even if you do not “feel” peace, YOU HAVE THE PEACE OF GOD WITHIN YOU! God has already left it with us, until her returns. Pray to the Father, he WILL listen. Read the Pslams, as David had many many troubles and afflictions, God has rescued them as he WILL you, from them ALL! Speak his promises. When God says he WILL…that is a promise. In God’s amazing Grace and Love, I Speak a full life filled with healing, love and prosperity in the things of God, In Jesus Name. Amen.

  13. I have been praying for God to take me home (heaven), I want to die but am afraid of going to hell. I don’t have people in my life , nor parents due to my depression, my children don’t even want to be near me. And I lost respect for my husbsnd, no more love. Is asking God in Prayer to take me home the same as committing suicide. ? Please help alone in new milford ct

Dawn – You have to fight this. Otherwise the Devil will destroy you. Giving up is exactly the goal of the Devil. Read this – Your Past Is Not God’s Future For You – and then hit the right arrow button at the top and read whatever article jumps out at you. God can help you. But you have to want it and you have to also fight for it. This is tough but self pity and victimhood is not the path out. We love you. I love you. God loves you. Your family also loves you. There is hope all around but you cannot see it because of the blindness of the Devil. Rex

  14. I’m not sure what part of the Bible you have read or if you have read it at all and misconstrued so much of it I am not one to stand up and condemn people because God said you don’t but I think you are way off .

  15. FaithMechanic, about the hotline/ministry, I wasn’t thinking you have to start something up or create a new forum or like that. I was just thinking, Google around and find a ministry you would be comfortable linking to. Put their website and phone number at the bottom of the article. It’s wonderful that we here sometimes jump in to comfort the downcast, but we’re not always available to in time, and there are ministries who are dedicated to this purpose with people available 24×7. That way there’s a safety net in place here.

  17. Jane Greater is HE that is in you than he that is in the world.lord Jesus keep Jane close to your heart.Jane you are a sweet child of the most high God.

  18. I have been a christian for a long time and just found out from a prophet, and it’s been confirmed, that I am a witch. I had no idea! Many people say I fight them in my dreams but I’m not physically aware of it. I want to stop but don’t know how because I don’t know I’m doing it. I am making God angry and am grieving the Holy Spirit. I have hurt alot of people and am so repentant, but it still doesn’t stop no matter how much I pray. I can’t read the scriptures and everything is dark. It seems like my only resort is to die… hopeless

    1. Author

Jane – That is not what someone in the office of a Prophet does or says. If God gave someone a ‘word of knowledge’ or a ‘discerning of spirits’ that they were a witch, then they would have the ability at that moment to cast it out of them. That is the way the gifts almost always work. The devil is lying to you and/or you are having delusions. Seek help. Do not rely on so called prophets. Especially if you had no idea you were a witch. You would know that something big like that was going on in your body and life. There would be some kind of confirmation.

Also, true Christians can be oppressed in the mind but not possessed in the spirit. God loves you and is not mad at you. We love you. You probably do need to be set free but not from being a witch, but from lying demons and confusion. We do love you. Rex

  19. FaithMechanic, you know what’d be good on this post? A link to a Christian suicide prevention hotline/ministry. Somewhere people can go to immediately when they want support. Could you add that?

    1. Author

SlowBro – I agree. I have been looking into this and have not decided which ones to add. I was just talking with my daughter about this last night. A member (cast or whatever) of the TV show Supernatural has a online forum for people with serious depression. I am looking into how they are doing it.

I also need to add a private invitation-only group so people can communicate better. I am concerned about that so it will have to be closely monitored. This is all very sensitive business. God bless you. I sure appreciate you. Rex

      Anybody have any suggestions?

  20. Holly I just saw your comment and am praying for you spirit of death, suicide leave Holly now, lord Jesus fill her with life and life abundantly let her feel your strong presence by her in Jesus name we pray.

  21. Holly I have felt this same way for along time I lost my mother last year and I have no other family also lost my job after twenty two years. I’m in my late fifties and can’t find work, I came to this site some time ago it has helped me to see that God really does hear us and that the devil will do all he can to get us to believe that He doesn’t . Please don’t let this devil win. It’s time for you, me and everyone in our positions to fight harder and show our love and trust in God. I know how hard it is please show your strength and love for God, He promises He will get us through. Please Please don’t give up.

  22. Tina Marie, assuming your church is obedient to the Scriptures and is a great place where you can rejoice in the Lord, you would be loving to your friend if you thanked her very much for the time she spends with you, and told her honestly, “I would rather continue to attend my church.” If she’s got a godly heart she will understand; if she’s not walking in obedience she may not. But if you don’t want to attend with her that is your choice.

  23. Holly I’m praying. The fact that you’re here and talking tells me you don’t want to do this, that God is helping you from making a serious mistake. Read these Scriptures and think about His love. His love is often clouded by us, by the devil, but His love is real and it’s available for you. Look at those Scriptures and think about them.

  24. Please anyone pray for me, I am sitting here right now wanting to commit suicide. I’m 49 years old and I don’t want to go on any more. Im really tired. I believe in God, but I don’t believe he hears me anymore.
