Don’t let anybody kid you; the lure of the world is plenty strong, but you can resist it.
No temptation has overtaken you that is unusual for human beings. But God is faithful, and he will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength. Instead, along with the temptation he will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to endure it. I Corinthians 10:13
Isn’t that interesting?! God apparently allows people to be tempted but He will not allow them to be tempted beyond that which they are able. Why then does He allow us to be tempted at all? I have no idea, but I bet we will find out someday. In the meantime, as we all know, it is a simple fact of life, and it is something that is not to be thought of as unusual.
So, how do we resist temptation? One way is by staying full of the Holy Spirit of God. Plus, you do everything you can to stay away from it (sorry for the image in that regard).
Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk – not as unwise people but as wise – making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless actions, but be filled by the Spirit: speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music from your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of Christ. Ephesians 5:15-21 Holman Christian Standard Bible
Oh, and remember, God is not the one doing the tempting:
And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. James 1:13, 14 New Living Translation
Thanking God for my daughter’s new home and asking the Lord to bless her husband with a job so that they can keep it! The blessings of the Lord makes one Rich and he adds no sorrow with it! Asking the Lord to bless my marriage with salvation for my husband and deliverance from smoking cigarettes ! I am in awe of the word of God to heal so many! Thanks for the word!
Lure of the Colorful World is one thing , merging with the society ( of the same mind ) is another thing… In the end you love it or hate it … Word of GOD does offer good refuge .. after the hustle and bustle of the World.
I am really blessed by this message, nothing Is strengthening as knowing that in all things we are more that conquerers and that in all temptations God provides a way.
Margareth – Thank you.I am blessed by your comment. We are more than conquerors through Him that loves us. Rex
And in today’s busy world, when so many have so much and so many more have so little, depression is one of the strongest temptations we face. The unfairnesses we see can seem overwhelming and unsolvable and often make us feel powerless and thus of little value. A few weeks ago someone wrote of how depressed they were, they had sought help, including as an impatient, yet was still tempted to suicide; he loved God but still felt unable to cope. I wrote to him but unfortunately cannot find his name and have been searching your comments to find him. I’ve kept him in prayers and am desperate to touch base with him to see how he is doing. If he reads this please answer. Blessings to all.
Kay – I sent you an email. God bless.Rex
